The guy I have been dating long distance for about 7 months had a disagreement about whether we should be in a committed relationship or not a couple nights ago. We are a 5 hour flight away and can only see each other about 3 or 4 times a year, although I have a job about 1 hour from his city lined up for a year from now (whether we are together or not).

Well, the distance has been a hard factor in the relationship and we ended the conversation pretty poorly and from the sounds of it he is really frustrated and I don't know if he is interested in pursuing me anymore. I know that we aren't going to be in a relationship right now, but I kind of want to at least keep the door open because I really like him and you never know what will happen in the future.

I have thought about an e-mail that just says something like I would like to keep communicating as friends, and whatever happens, happens. Do you think this is a good idea or is there a better strategy?

He is the one that is unsure about the relationship part, but I understand why he feels that way.

I think that's a great idea. A long distance relationship is a hard thing to have. Keep talking to him as Friends and even continue to see if if you want. If it is meant to be and you can make it through this very hard situation your relationship will be strong enough to make it through anything

If he isn't sure, then move on and find someone who is. Its sad when this kind of thing happens. I was in a long distance relationship with a girl who was not as dedicated to our relationship as i was. He isn't sincere now why when its a little difficult why would you want him?

Wait for him...? And keep all the other handsome suitors waiting and wanting...? Long distance relationships are difficult at best...and now that there is more distance between your hearts it might be best to 'close the door'...deadbolt, just in case...at least until you can 'bridge the gap' between you...Best to you...ciao, CAKES

are you sure that he doesnt have a wife and kids hidden away... but i would say that email with an openended communication and a wait and see is the best option, dont put your life on hold forever! cause its been on hold for long eneough. seems if things were ment to be then maybe things would have come togeather easier......

best of luck

Talk to him about how you feel with out pressuring him. Give it a little time to let the water settle. Tell him how you feel about staying in touch... if it's meant to be it will work out.

i think that is a good idea. and start dating other people and if he wants to get back together then ok. but if he doesn't then just stay friends. both ways each person is happy.
