Because those laws were given to the Hebrews by God....gentile believers were never under Levitical law. Remember what Jesus said when the religious leaders questioned him about this? He said, "love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself; in these two, are all the laws and the prophets fulfilled".

It seems a lot of Christians have a hard time following just the ten big ones. Are you talking about eating Kosher? Most of the laws seem like detailed rehashing of the big ten. Don't commit Adultery covers pretty much all of the sexual sins. Do not take the Lord's name in vain covers everything from swearing to waging war in the name of God.

Then again, Jesus boiled it down to just two laws.

The law expired at the same time Christ died on the cross, and was replaced with the new covenant and the authority of the universal church that Jesus personally founded.

There was no Bible at the time, and even if there was, the church is superior in authority to the Bible, anyway.

We still have 10 commandments, but none of the old laws, and we Christians worship on Sundays and not Saturdays, for the very same reason we have a complete Bible ... the God-given authority of the universal (Catholic) church ... and no other.

Where do you got the idea?

Do you know what is the 2 most important commandments?

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind soul stength, and Love your neighbour as yourselves.

When Jesus taught us that, he is summing up all the 700 over laws. . . but by observing the Law in itself is not the way to salvation.

Abraham was claimed to be righteous by God as Rightous, even before the Law of Moses. Why? Simply by faith.(Gen 15:6)

In Habbakuk, 2:4, in the similar tone, God spoke to the prophets.

In the New T, Paul sounded the same teaching, without faith, it is impossible to please God.

Why this 2 commandment? In Romans, as well as other epistle,it spells out clearly, if you love God with all the above mentioned attitude, you will not want to offend Him, and will serve him, but not satan.

If you love others (neighbour), you will not rob, steal, rape or kill.

This 2 commandment is the summary of all the given commandment. But by following them blindly, you will not be saved. One must believe in Jesus.

So, it is not ture in your statment, that Christian only follow 10 commandments. Or even all the rest.

As Christians, we should follow what Jesus said about the great commandments, though it was only two, it involves all the commandments given to moses.

Jesus left us with the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us. And if we obey Him according to His Word and seek His will in everything we do, that is all we need to do. Have you read Leviticus lately? How would some of those things apply to us living here in America today?

Exodus chapter 21 (TEV)

15 "Whoever hits his father or his mother is to be put to death

Whoever kidnaps someone, either to sell him or to keep him as a slave, is to be put to death

Any man or woman who consults the spirits of the dead shall be stoned to death; any of you that do this are responsible for your own death

If a man is found sleeping with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel

"If a man commits adultery with another man's wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death

MY FAVORITE:

Suppose someone has a son who is stubborn and rebellious, a son who will not obey his parents, even though they punish him. 19 His parents are to take him before the leaders of the town where he lives and make him stand trial. 20 They are to say to them, "Our son is stubborn and rebellious and refuses to obey us; he wastes money and is a drunkard.' 21 Then the men of the city are to stone him to death

briefly, my understanding of this is that the teachings of Jesus and the NT cancels the Law (creating a new beginning), and those things (laws) not repeated in the NT are replaced by the teachings of the NT.
