In most states you can call 211 as a "first call for help" if it gets to that point

or try visiting this site for a local office http://www.hud.gov/homeless
...click local homeless assistance for an office

I have known people who have become homeless, if you maintain any kind of income (job, child support, disability) Get into co-op or government subsidized housing where they take 1/3 of your income.

If you are about to lose your home but havent yet talk to a caseworker at you local social services office about something called a PRC grant, (you have to ask) which may pay your late rent or for public transportation or car repairs to prevent you from losing you job or becoming homeless.

If you have no income you may have to stay in a shelter until some type of public housing opens up. The poverty is so high right now theres always a list for this and section 8. I have a sister in law who has been on this section 8 list list for over 6 years (were in the poorest big city in the country though).

The fastest way to get out of this predicament is to secure SOME type of job, even if its part time one day a week, or apply for temporary cash assistance, then apply for child care assistance, They can take rent as low as 25 dollars a month and assist with energy bills. This should buy you some time until you finish a job training program and/or you can get real income coming in.

hope ive helped

You must be so scared and devastated. I can't offer much more than a suggestion or two but they may get you moving in the right direction. The first place to start is Family Services. They have programs like Emergency Assistance and others to help you if you are being evicted or your house is damaged beyond repair. If you need a place to stay because of domestic abuse then the women's shelter can help you as can the police department. As hard as it is to walk into that Family Services/welfare office, you and your kids deserve to have a good life and they can help you get a start. HUD can help with housing too but that may take awhile, there is usually a waiting list.
I know what it is like, I have found myself homeless twice since my first son was born, I lost my job when I was pregnant with him and then a horrible slum lord wouldn't repair the heating system in a house when it failed two years later. You can find a way out of this. Just keep fighting, and my thoughts are with you.

My sister has been in the same situation. She stayed with us for a little while until she got back on her feet.

Do you have Family that you can lean on?

People are usually willing to help especially when kids are involved but patience and generosity wear thin very quickly.

Get on Public assistance. they will help with free childcare, and training. Get a job asap, and help out around whatever house you living in. Make your presence an asset instead of a burdin.

Be a good expample those babies, they are watching and learning from you everyday. Someday they may be in the same situation, give them the skills and example of strength they will need to pull themselves out of a rut.
Life doesn't happen to you... YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Make it happen

Go to a family shelter for the night, and first thing in the morning go to Social Services. Or find a leader at a church that you are comfortable with and they will point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Go to social services but other questions are do you have a job to support a household? Are you getting any income for your kids? They are going to want a lot of information so if you have a job get your latest paycheck stub.

Contact family and/or friends. Someone will be willing to let you crash with them, until you are able to afford your own place.
