My boyfriend of 3 years cheated on me and lied about the details. He says he's sorry and that he's realized that I'm the one he wants to be with and will never do it again, etc., etc., blah blah blah. I have two choices, give him a second chance or dump him. If I stay with him, what are some specific things that should be done to earn my trust again? We've all heard the saying, "Trust takes time." Yes, that's true, but there's so much more to it than time. I can just sit there day after day and pretend it never happened, and with time, trust him. What are specific things he should do to get that trust back? He sincerely wants it but says he doesn't know how to prove he's trustworthy. And trust is so hard to prove anyway. I can just assume he's being honorable when really I can't be 100% sure right? Can you even get trust back, even after your partner has hurt you tremendously? I want us to work, and I think he does too. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Exactly blah blah blah. No you can never trust him again. He told you, you were the love of his life. Obviously you were not. Now he wants you back because your the steady reliable screw. He will do it again.
Be thankful you didn`t get PG. Dump him and find that guy who would give his life to be with you. The guy who would be willing to not have sex with you and wait to marry you. Not just shack up with you.

Good question glad you asked.

To start off, he should have to check in with you a lot if you guys are not together. If ever you have a doubt about anything, he should go out of his way to explain things to you. He can't be trusted to be around other girls either.

Really, I don't know if I would want to be with a guy after he cheated on me though, because you will always have that doubt. I wish you the best of luck though.

Sweet Sweet Girl, If they do it once they will do it again. Next time they will just hide it better.
