All religions can be counted on to be hypocritcal and judgmental in some regard, but which one really takes the cake in this matter?

Christianity. There is no room to define your own beliefs towards the bible, it is how it is written and that's that. Personal interpretations are not allowed. They don't open their minds towards anything that they don't understand and because they don't understand it, it is feared and therefore wrong.

It sounds like a very judgmental question. People are the problem. Christians are often accused of being judgmental or hypocritical only because they set the bar so high, that most fail to reach it. That does not mean that the effort is not worth making, however. Although Ghandi was once asked why, after he had studied the New Testament extensively, why he never became a Christian. He replied "If I ever met one, I would be one." The doctrine of unconditional love which was preached by Jesus is a most difficult one to follow, because of our selfish nature. If we can learn to love as Jesus loved no one would call us judgmental or hypocritical. Take one example: Compare Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. When Jimmy Carter ran for the presidency, he admitted in an interview that he lusted in his heart. His approval rating plummetted. When Bill Clinton not only lusted in his heart, but actually sprayed his body fluids over Monika Lewinsky's dress, his approval rating soared. Why? My theory is that everyone knows that Jimmy Carter is a Christian. They disapproved because they felt he failed to live up to his own standards. Bill Clinton, on the other hand, has always worshipped at the altar of feminine pulchritude. His ratings went up because he was being true to his animal nature, over which he never rose.

Judgmental is kind of a culturally subjective term in this regard. What appears to be judgmental and/or wrong for one could be perfectly fine for another. From the point of view of myself I'd have to say Christianity. More specifically Southern Baptists as those are whom I've had the most dealings with. Some of the most bigoted, hateful, hypocritical, and judgmental people I've ever met have been Southern Baptists.

The religion of modern thinking.
As a group, the higher learning institutions take the cake.
I, though not a member of any religion can not stand the double standard of those in the teaching profession. Those that couch their questions in vailed bias to bully others into submission.
What I am curious about you though is, the motive for this type of question. As a lifelong learner, would not your time be more constuctively spent, trying to learn the unbiased truths about everything? (incluling religion).

I would say the most judgemental religions are those super strict ones like sects and cults and communes and/or those that have cruel punishments for merely small human activitieseg. winking of an eye.

Perhaps Shi'ism (also known as "Shia Islam" or "Shiite Muslims") have earned the distinction of being "most judgmental". Adherents actively work to hunt down, punish, and even kill those they personally deem to be "sinners". Officially, Shiism views other branches of Islam as heretics!

By contrast, Jesus Christ did not authorize Christians to perform any acts of violence or warfare. The "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses" preaches a message of "good news", and leaves all judging for Jehovah and Jesus to perform "on the last day".

(Acts 10:36,42) Declare to them the good news of peace through Jesus Christ: this One is Lord of all others. ...this is the One decreed by God to be judge of the living and the dead

(John 11:23-25) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” 24 Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life.

(John 12:48-49) The word that I [Jesus] have spoken is what will judge [a person] in the last day; 49 because I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment

(John 8:16) if I do judge, my judgment is truthful, because I am not alone, but the Father who sent me is with me

(Matthew 12:36) They will render an account concerning it on Judgment Day

(John 5:22,27-30) [The Father] has committed all the judging to the Son... 27 And he has given him authority to do judging, because Son of man he is. 28 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out... I judge; and the judgment that I render is righteous, because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

(Acts 17:30-31) God has overlooked the times of such ignorance, yet now he is telling mankind that they should all everywhere repent. 31 Because he has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man [Jesus] whom he has appointed

In addition, Jehovah's Witnesses are quite famous for teaching that "hell" does not exist as Christendom has taught it; God has *NOT* arranged for any such place of fiery torment for sinners in some netherworld. The original Hebrew and Greek words most commonly translated as "hell" actually refer to the common grave of mankind; the Scriptures point forward to a time after Armageddon when humans will live forever and death and "hell" are themselves destroyed.

(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all

(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]

(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

Jehovah's Witnesses. You can't be one and be gay:period. And they believe that they are basically the only ones that will be saved. Oh and if you aren't one of them then you are "part of the world", which is a bad thing.
