I know that Sailors typically bank at Navy Federal but where do Airmen go?

The reason I ask is that I am enlisting in the Air Force. I typically come from a Navy family so I bank with a Navy bank... I know that the government can deposit my check into any bank I use but my Mom brought up the point that if I get stationed overseas at an Air Force base chances are not every bank we have in the US will be there so I am just looking for a general bank that most Airmen use for convenience and availability (just incase I happen to get sent to Korea or somewhere similar)

I would bank with your local bank. They can deposit there. You can keep that account and also open a bank account with an overseas one if you are stationed there. You can change your direct deposit at any time to any bank you want. Hope this helps.

Armed Forces Financial Network (AFFN)

The above is a special feature via Bank of America for new Air Force recruits.

Looks worth checking into? The webpage explains everything.

I used "Academy Bank" (AF Academy for years, in some states they had branches in Walmarts!) BUT BA is a good place to start, call the Military Rep.

Good Luck

There are several that can be used:
There's the Armed Forces Bank
Several bases have their own, for example Travis Credit Union
I am sure there is an Air Force Bank, though I don't know specifically its name.

overseas on military installations they have a community bank on post, but when you pcs back to the states you have to close the account. we just bank with our regular bank, whether we are stateside or overseas. We open up a savings account in the community bank so we dont have any problems cashing checks or things like that.

any bank that they want to. their is on law mandating one bank over another. I used the bank I had from when I was a child when I enlisted. Now I work for a bank and we have a military banking division.
