That's just something I don't understand. Maybe it's a different God pretending to be yours. Or maybe it's a different God that you're just misunderstanding. Or what if (gulp) it's the Devil? Or your imagination, and you're just a little crazy. There could be all kinds of things. So how are you so sure that you're speaking to or hearing the being that you think it is? I'm really curious to know.

And no, a generic answer of "faith" really won't cut-it with me, as there have been billions of others who have had similar faith and it wasn't with your God. I want something more specific.

I do believe in demons, and I believe Satan can invade our thoughts and our prayers. Spiritual warfare is a scary thing indeed. That's why a lot of people really enjoy speaking in tounges, if they can, because it's considered a divine language that cannot be interpreted by Satan. But that's another question altogether. . .

I believe that when we receive revelations from God, we need to test them. There are a few ways of doing this.

Firstly, understand that God operates on the notion of peace. If you feel you're being called to do something by God, that call should be surrounded by a sense of ease. "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace." (1 Corinthians 14:33)

Secondly, try keeping a journal of your prayers. When God has something to say, He's very persistent. He pops up all over the place and reveals Himself in many ways. Keeping track of this will help you to see a continuing pattern in certain areas.

Thirdly, have other people pray for you when you're really unsure, without telling them the specifics of your situation. Have them share anything that may have popped up during their prayers. . . if they feel the need to share a bible verse with you, or any images that may have been stirred, etc. If what they receive from God in regards to you is on the same page as your own and that of others, then it's from God. If things seem to bounce around and be inconsistent, then be weary. Remember-- God operates on peace!

Normally, it is only you who does the talking. If He answers directly to you and you hear a voice, then maybe you have to have your brain examined. However, I have experienced a lot of times whenever I need an answer, I go to a person that I could talk to and ask for his feeling or take about what I asked from God. Then from these people, I weigh what is it that I expect God may answer me from their answers. Oftentimes His answer/s is already in your brain and all you have to do is to choose which of the many answers that plays in your mind is the best according your judgement. Sometimes, His answer is not really what you want to happen but if you think outside of your selfish interest, the right thing may not be as pleasant but still is the right thing..

God by definition is a perfect, supreme, omnipotent being. If this is true, there cannot be more than one perfect surpeme, omnipotent being. There can only be one.

The dictionary defines perfect as "excellent or complete beyond practical or theoretical improvement:"

It is certainly possible that the billions before us who had faith, did have it in the same exact God, even if their concept of this God was different.

It is also possible that there is no God at all.

However, if there is a God, and he is a perfect, supreme, omnipotent being, then no matter what faith you have you will be praying to the same exact God, even if the conception of this God differs from faith to faith.

Have you ever been riding down the road and had a thought or a feeling or something like a voice inside you tell you or make you feel like you should go a certain way instead of the way you are driving, but you pay it no mind and as you go all kinds of things start happening?
Some call it all kinds of different things, but it is the Holy Spirit and he is calling you!

Well I do know because first of all God has a Name, and I use his Name when I talk to him. because he then knows that I am addressing him, and I also know that he hears me because he is the hearer of prayer, yet not only that but, he has, answered many prayers, to me, as I always respect him and his Name and his Will, I do listen to him(that is I do not literaly hear his voice but he speaks to me through his wrd the Bible generic answer faith is also necessary God will not answer someone if the don't believe that he is listening I have always prayed to him in faith that he would answer me and he did so! I hope this is specific enough for you! I know that Satan is the god of this system of things (2Corinthians4:4)

How I know it is God...

First of all, I believe that there is only one God, so therefore, it can't be another god talking to me.

1 John 4:16 God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
With the above verse in mind, if it is the devil then what is being said to me will not fit into this. Love will be involved in anything God asks me to do. It doesn't mean that what is being asked will be easy, in fact often it is really challenging, but it will not contradict LOVE. (Following Jesus can be risky business, you might end up changed!!!)

When God speaks to me while praying (contimplative or other) sometimes I have a feeling that is hard to explain, but I seem to just know it is Him. Other times I'm not sure if it is of God or my own thoughts, in these circumstances I can pray about it further, or proceed knowing if it is God's will He will equip me with what I need to succeed.

There are times God talking to us, but most of the time we never listen.

Prayer is a bridge between God and Man, If you want God to listed to you, do as the bible teaches us the proper way of praying, pray with no one sees you for God will listen as the bible says.

I have talked with a spiritual being, however it was not God. I don't know if this spiritual being was a deceased animal, human or angel. I do not believe that this being was a living human being that channelled me in. While hearing the voice I felt waves of energy coming from the outside of my face and moving in to the tip of my nose. Kind of like a reverse ripple effect. (Going in instead of moving out.) Now I believe this to be a good spirit since I didn't not get a negetive impression from it. Even in everyday people, I can tell if I am going to like or dislike them the day I meet them. I can feel if they are a good or bad person on the inside. I have never been wrong. I can also tell when danger is coming and I need to move. (Like being in the wrong place at the wrong time and leaving before someone shows up. Not that I did any criminal actions. Just stuff like being at a friend's house when they are grounded and their parents are not home.)

God Bless!

They will know if it is God by reading the bible. If they truly beleive the bible and remember the bible is written for the believer, not unbelievers like myself, But the bible does make it clear that God spoke in these last days through his son Jesus. Read hebrews 1:1,2,3. So if he spoke through his son and the bible was written by those who Jesus chose to write down his word, then anyone claiming god speaks to them today is not talking to the God of the bible. The bible also makes other statements not to add to or take away from what is written,(Revelation22:18, 19) so any claim that God is speaking to the individual today is a false claim or it is clearly not the God of the bible.

How to know? Question if it is LOVE BASED thought, idea, perception.... and go with that.

LOVE = GOD, LIFE, TRUTH, JOY.

Tangible explanation of HOW do you know God talks to you:

God is HOW you are able to recognize YOUR reflection in mirrors, glass or photos....

You cannot SEE YOURSELF, God SEES you and is HOW you are able to recognize yourself in an old photo when not only has your physical appearance changed, but you have forgotten everything else about the photo but yourself.

God is HOW you are able to BE.
Free Will allows you to choose your experience/perception of this.

Your body is WHAT you are IN, not WHO you are.

God IS LOVE.

Unconditional Love is beyond explanation in a temporary conditional reality... but is real none the less.

"We" can choose to believe whatever "we" like, and God is STILL God.
