I would strongly suggest you seek help from 2 different areas:
1) From a local Bible believing church that has a foundation in biblical counseling. This is to "get your head on straight"
2) From a medical physician to assist in the physialogical aspects of removing the dependency you have.

Let me know through this system if you would like a recomendation on a church. Or call 800-AFAMILY or go to www.family.org. Focus on the Family is a Ministry that focuses on the well beings on families, but has endless resources/recommendations to every aspect of human needs.

i'm an emotional eater as well-it's an awful struggle isn't it?

i take zoloft for my anxiety and depression and it helps alot but not all the time.

what i've found to help me control the eating is i exercise alot when i'm upset. even just a 10 minute brisk walk helps alot. it clears my head, calms me down, and makes me not want to eat. my favorite things are my kick boxing tapes and jogging-they help release all the pent up anxiety and i feel a ton better after i'm done.

i also don't keep high fat or real sugary foods in my house. if i go on an eating binge-it's usually fresh fruits, veggies, rice cakes, or low-cal cereal b/c that's all i've got in the house!! it works great.

i'm not one to usually force religion on anybody but church has also helped me out a great deal. i feel like my life is totally focused if i attend service and my bible study group at least once a week.

Yes. See if there is an "Overeaters Anonymous" chapter near you. It is not a diet. The purpose is for you to identify the causes of your overeating (e.g. the emotions which trigger it) & the means to overcome it. It is free. Good luck to you; it isn't easy to overcome.
