a waste of time or do you really feel that you get something out of it? Sometimes I am so disturbed by some of the avatars and questions that it hurts to see how much hate there is, but at other times I feel that I have really helped someone with my answer and have had some new insights as well.

It is definitely not a waste of time when you try helping somebody with sensible answers/information to their questions.

Yes, it seems like there is a lot of hate within some of these questions; just remember the part of the Bible where Jesus said to turn the other cheek. I forget exactly the words, but something like love those who hate you; this will heap coals upon their head.

Don't give up; remember, Jesus never gave-up on you.

Avoid getting too deep into the people's questions that just stir hate and mocking. There are a lot of questions to answer that are not religious where you can help someone with a need. Sometimes it is a life changing decision that you can answer and give a Bible statement to help them too.

We have to be careful not to waste too much time with those that are nasty and mock. God said to stay away from them in clear language in a few places. Jesus used a parable that said not to throw pearls before swine. He was not saying that all negative people are swine, but there are some that will have to learn the hard way about God. There are many that just simply do not understand as the Apostle Paul had been.

Don't get discouraged, we never know (on earth) how much we may have helped someone see the light.

I completely agree with you. Everytime I come on here, I get disappointed at some of the responses given, not so much from an unbeliever, but more so from people who profess to be christians themselves. So many judge other people and condemn them and say hateful and hurtful things. I just wonder if the ones who do this ever think to themselves..."Would Jesus talk to another person this way?". Sometimes this site can be a waste of time. I think people use this as a way to vent their own personal frustrations instead of actually trying to give intelligent, helpful answers. I hope that they can find peace in their own lives and stop trying to fill ours with hate.

I find the lack of sincerity indicative of how some of these people have arrived at their beliefs. I am not suggesting all as there are some sincere ones in here. But it seems any one should be a able to realise without any respect there is little chance for meaningful dialogue. That being said I do think we should be able to joke a bit and laugh at ourselves some. I should also note some Christians can behave pretty rotten in here at times as well.

Dear Nana-
Lately it has seemed like a waste of time. I keep hoping to find sincere questions that I can answer from scripture. A lot of the stuff here is disturbing. Glad that I am not alone! Thanks for posting this question.

"Yet those who wait for the Lord
will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary."

It is a great waste of time. I am addicted to it. But on occasion I think I have actually helped someone. Would they have gotten help from someone else if I were not here, probably. But I really have got to give this up. It is crazy. I think only one or two people every see the answers and people ask the same questions over and over and over and over and.... I have really got to get back to my life one of these days and soon!

I think it's a little bit of both, you take the good with the bad. I use it sometimes as a witnessing tool and put up links to Christian websites when people are struggling with deep issues. I am shy about witnessing and this is definitely helping. I am also an aspiring writer, so I use it to polish my skills and get feedback. I like to help people and this is how I do it. So I would say, skip over the bad stuff, filter it out and just pray about how you can help others, and it sounds like you are doing just that! God bless!

I really like it when I ask a question. And I don't mind spending points letting the site know that some questions or answers are slurs against a particular group, usually Christians. No other group seems to be generalized and slandered as much.

Praise God. You're not the only one it's just the right thing to do, trying to bring light to where there is darkness. Answering questions of those that are confused or have no idea; don't get discouraged. You learn from asking and from answering. And paying close attention of the answers you know in your heart are the wrong answers. Peace and God Bless you.

This site lets me pick my battles.

True: 95% of the questions on here are total garbage.
But then there are the real questions too.
The ones who are looking for real answers.
Those are the questions I answer.
Those are the people who need someone to be serious.

It's way too easy to "throw the baby out with the dirty bath water".
There are plenty of questions worth answering.
You just need to wade through the trash to find them.
