Yes a spyware (depending on what kind) may be able to get your credit number. The things that record your credit card number are called trojans/keyloggers. Becareful to not get any keyloggers into your computer. It records everything you type and so the other person who planted the keylog in your computer can read everything you typed. Do you have norton anti virus? I think it can help get rid of your spyware. If you know how to use it well the program works good.
On the other hand you can restart your computer and run in safe mode and do no connect to the internet. Go to start up then accessories then system tools then system restore. It will restore everything back to the way it was to that specific day. It might help.
Just to let you know that most free anti spyware programs are not good. They just want to promote themselves to people and ask you to install a bunch of toolbars etc on your computer. Many anti spyware programs are useless and some in fact give spywares.

It is always better to depend on system restore so that un- identified errors are undone with out affecting the basic operating system. I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html.
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

I don't know if they are still making it free but try searching for a program called adaware by lava soft. This program will search out spy-ware and alike. I have had a hard to get rid of spy-ware program on my computer before, adaware deleted it from not only the program list but also the file directory (where many hide).Hope this helps.
