A lof of girls I know think it's a bad thing but I just don't see it.My boyfriend is and he's never come close to being in any way controlling or violent towards me.He likes to make it know that I'm with him.What's so wrong with that?

Possessive as in he'll come up and put his arm around me when I'm talking to guys and he'll introduce himself as my boyfriend.

Its not OK. He does it out of jealously not love. There is nothing wrong with your talking with others & one of the signs of a controller is isolating you from people unless he is with you. Its a matter of distrusting you as well.
Remember, abusers are very loving & charming while dating. It rears its ugly head when you've been dating awile & he feels that you are his "property." Many abusers hide this aspect of their personality until marriage or the birth of children.
If you don't love him but merely like him a lot you are better off to stop seeing him & look for a guy who trusts you around other people. And if you love him, you would still be better off without him.

ide really like to know where you got the idea that if a boyfriend puts his arm around his girlfriend and introduces himself as the boyfriend. I would say that is insecurity and his way of saying she is taken. but no it is not ok to be possesive over a signifigant other. My advice to you is for you to do some research on what a possessive relationship is about and learn the warning sighns so you can stay away from that kind of relationship.

It depends on the girl.........some feel that's it's flattering and nice to have a protective guy who doesn't want to lose you to someone else. It can show that you matter to him and he cares. Nothing wrong with a little insecurity. Just as long as he doesn't overdo it, get out control and tries to dictate everything you do, who you can talk to and where you can go. Know what I mean?

it may be wondeful in the beginning but as this kind of behavior
come to the surface it will become more dangeous. it start very
quiet and then it become a roar. just watch for the sign.

it's not ok.Because it can get worse b/c you let him do this now and he thinks that's the way it is.After a while he can start being very controlling and you might get tired of him.
