If you mean the American poor, then no. I get around in the United States and have a job where I have a lot of interaction with indigents. I don't see anyone with signs of malnurishment. Moreover, after doing a year in a court room doing almost all CPS cases, there was only one time when I saw a kid who CPS alleged was malnurished, but CPS could not prove it in court after talking with a bunch of social workers and doctors. Even the homeless don't look malnurished in the US. In fact, a lot of people who are poor actually look took fat. In fact, the poor have a greater obesity problem than the general population in this country. As such, if, by hungry, you mean truly clinically starving, then absolutely not. Of course, there are exceptions, but I don't think starvation is a problem of the poor in America as a rule.

Let's talk about other countries. Many do have starvation problems that need to be addressed, but America is a generous country that gives billions to these countries. However, a lot of these problems are caused by war or other political issues. If we had peace everywhere and everyone cooperated, food would get to where it's needed. That isn't the case. Sometimes money isn't enough.

Your presmise assumes people don't care. Maybe there needs to be more caring in the world. I don't disagree. But Christmas isn't the only time that charitable folks around this country and around the world give. Also, I don't think one can say that Christmas shows that we, as Americans, are uncaring, because we can only give when we feel good about the world and ourselves during the holiday season. We give so we are uncaring?? That doesn't make sense. Additionally, I would further say that, while giving goes up during the holiday season, better that there be a spike in giving at that time of the year than no spike at all.

Whats the connection between christmas and the hungry?
knock knock....

The poor and angry will always be with you. Thats why you need to get up from your computer and DO ACTION. GIve your hand to help the needy. And stop judging people or other beliefs if you yourself didnt make any contribution.

excellent question! why do we only seem to care about them when we're trying to look good--I have never seen a homeless shelter that actually opened it's doors, and I worked at the one here for a year--they could have. I have seen the salvation army turn people away who were living on the streets, I took them in myself, and saw them get back on their feet inside of a month and completely turn their lives around. Charity is such a fraud

Not if you have started your service in humanity and began feeding the poor and hungry... This is the same answer I provided you earlier today when you posted this question...

Hungry like in Somalia or hungry like at our local soup kitchen? Does YOUR local soup kitchen shut down after Christmas??? Ours doesn't.

Is that a statement of pride? If they're hungry now, be a good samaritan and feed them. Unless you yourself haven' t ate food or had a drink to drink. You know what I mean?
