Cardiac chest pain does not have to be on the left side and women have atypical chest pain presentations that is why it is the number one killer of women. They dismiss it as something else. It could be cardiac in nature or pleurisy, pneumonia or pulled muscle. regardless seek the advice of a physician

A lot of things can cause chest pain. It's the ones that can kill you that you should be concerned about. Those being, pulmonary embolus, tension pneumothorax, dissecting aortic aneurysm, and myocardial infarction. Those are the bad ones. But if you are a young person or even a middle aged person who lives a relatively healthy lifestyle (i.e. not grossly overweight, non-smoker, stress-free), you probably don't need to worry about those players. It is more likely benign in nature like costochondritis or rib joint pain from inflammation, which can be helped with over the counter anti-inflammatory pills. Also remember if you are a woman who is 40 years + to make sure you have had a breast examination and screening mammogram. Definitely want to make sure breast cancer is out the picture.

Many, many things. It could be caused by the muscles in the chest wall (they can be pulled or get sore like any other muscle) or the bones (fractures, bruises, etc.). It can be caused by any number of pulmonary conditions (the pleura, which is the membrane that covers the lung, is very sensitive), it can even be caused by acid reflux or many other stomach or intestinal disorders. It can be caused by cardiac ischemia (which is the chest pain we all worry about having - lack of oxygen to the heart). And that's just for starters.
I can't tell you what your chest pain is due to without more information, but if you're young, healthy, and not at risk for anything in particular, then the odds are that the cause is something benign.

Few symptoms are more alarming than chest pain. In the minds of many people, chest pain equals heart pain. And while many other conditions can cause chest pain, cardiac disease is so common – and so dangerous – that the symptom of chest pain should never be dismissed out of hand as being insignificant.
“Chest pain” is an imprecise term. It is often used to describe any pain, pressure, squeezing, choking, numbness or any other discomfort in the chest, neck, or upper abdomen, and is often associated with pain in the jaw, head, or arms. It can last from less than a second to days or weeks, can occur frequently or rarely, and can occur sporadically or predictably.
With such a broad definition, you can see why the term “chest pain” is itself of little help to doctors.
It is important to keep in mind that chest pain is merely a symptom, not a diagnosis. And because it can be a symptom of anything from a catastrophic to a trivial medical problem, when a person experiences chest pain it is important to try to characterize that pain as rapidly as possible as being either completely benign, or possibly significant.
Chest pain is merely a symptom, not a diagnosis. Many medical problems can cause chest pain, and before the chest pain can be adequately treated, the actual underlying cause needs to be identified. The following is a list of the more common causes of chest pain, roughly in order of the frequency in which they are seen in the emergency room.

There is no way anyone on an Internet message service can answer your question. Chest main can be caused by a long list of things. You chest is a popular place or muscles or nerves that can cause pain. And, of course, the most famous cause of chest pain is your heart and related arteries. The only way to properly determine what is causing this pain is to visit a medical professional as soon as possible.

could be any of several things wait
the answer above me got there faster, my computer connection is slow, sorry,
but I'd say similar possibilities.
where is the chest pain specifically ? inside or close to the skin?
could be bronchitis or asthma or digestive upset or digestive infection, it could be emotions and something "psychosomatic", it could be something to do with arteries and blood circulation, it could be something like a muscle sprain or bruise, or skin problem, acne or dermatitis, or carcenoma but don't worry but do check it out with a doctor.
There is not enough SPECIFIC information in your question to answer it properly, you should let a doctor check it out. Early diagnosis could prevent a lot of trouble in the future. Get it checked out and fixed as soon as reasonably possible.

You need to go to your nearest ER right away!! The cemetery is full of people who said "oh, it's just indigestion" and then dropped dead of a heart attack. I ran a code on a 36 year old 2 days ago that was convinced his chest pain was indigestion. He was furious with his wife for bringing him to the ER---then he coded!!! Hate to be harsh or scare you, but you need to have this checked out. It may be nothing and you may be relieved OR you may be saving your own life. GO TO THE ER!!!

Does it hurt more when you take a deep breath? if it does, it's muscular. If it doesn't, go to the ER ASAP and don't drive, have someone take you and unless you are under 20, you are still a candidate for heart problems that cause chest pain so please go- the water consumption could actually make a heart condition worse so please go...
