if your dog scratches himself then there is big chance of ticks in his body. move your fingers exactly through the area he was scratching. U might find a black mole type. that is definitely a tick. or u might feel a small spider like insect. pull those out.
Brush ur dog regularly to remove ticks.

If they are itchy, they have fleas. Is is said that all dogs have fleas, but when they get a lot, during certain seasons usually, that is when they itch. To get rid of them use Frontline or Advantage. These really are the only two brands that actually work. The other brands may work but only for a few days or week. Frontline or Advantage will work for months at a time. It's not really reccommended to "flea bomb" your house. As long as you are treating your pets, your house will be rid of fleas too.

you can plainly see the dog madly itching. Also look through the fur and look for tiny eggs or flea poop. Although the dog may be itching it may not be fleas too, it could be dry skin or allergies. Look for tiny black dots moving around on the skin too as that is a sure fire infection. Best thing to do here is get a flea dip and collar, if the infestation gets bad youll have fleas on you and in your house.

Roll the dog over on it's back and look at the belly area that is usually void of hair in the vicinity of the hind legs. If the animal has fleas they should be visible in this area due to the lack of hair. Be cautious of using flea collars if it is a puppy. I saw ones face swell due to the dog being too young.

It scratches lots and if you look in the dogs fur you can see black flea poop or if it really badly infested a flea.

Yes scratching is an obvious clue, but if you look closely around the rectal area, you most likely will spot them. They tend to be black and you most likely will think they are "fruit flys", except they have a tendency of "diving "

You will be able to see them.
Run your finger through the fur close to the skin and you will see them. If you wash the dog you will be able to see them.
