Because some close minded people still think modern satanism is worshipping satan, no matter how much you tell them it is not.

Several years ago, I did some research on The church of Satan, The Satanic Church, Magick, Thelema, Buddhism, Jewish, Christian, Catholic and Pagan practices. Most people don't like to investigate what the other religions are about, mostly for fear to the unknown, but sometimes because their leaders tell them to stay away from it. So they reject other's peoples practices without even knowing what is all about. Thanks God (and I mean it) I found a Church which not only lets me investigate on other beliefs, but also encourages me to test those of my own, our scriptures, our rituals, and everything. We believe in Jesus as our saviour, God as our Lord, and Satan as the enemy. And we believe he is chasing us constantly to make us fall as he did. He does not care about the fallen ones as he already owns them. But that is a matter of another conversation. That little piece of knowledge has widened my tolerance to other people's beliefs. For the sake of this question, I would say that ignorance leads to intolerance. People should study the facts before commiting to any cause or belief. And enroll on what best suits them. Period.

i think the answer to your question lies in the name of your religion. Satanist, as in Satan. Okay maybe you are atheist, but if so why not just say so? Why use the term Satanist, unless it is to rebel against Christianity?

If they want to dig their own grave I wont stop them, but of all the religions in the world it just seems the most foolish to follow the figure of evil. I mean at least Muslims and Buddhists think they are following a righteous path.

Hello, 1) No, by lexical definition an atheists is one who does not believe in God or other deities so reason would dictate the Devil is not to be believed in either. 2) Christians believe in Satan as an evil spiritual entity. Atheist do not worship him . Cheers, Michael Kelly

I'm not so sure that intolerant is the right word but Christians care about others, satanists included, and want no one to follow satain, his lies, and eternal damnation. It's care, hope, love, and faith that the Christian wants to sow. It's not disrespect for the person him/her self, it's disrespect for satan, the lies, and eventual damnation satan is sowing.

Satanists believe in Satan, the devil. And Christians believe in Jesus, who, despite Satan's temptations, never did anything wrong. Basically, you should think of this as a protest. One side is fighting for a cause, PERSON, or thing, while the other side prosecutes the idea. It's kinda like fighting in court, except this is about the religions. This is basically normal, and people do like to believe in something and fight against the thing the believe in's oppressors.

If they don't have anything to do with satan, why do they call themselves satanists?
