I am engaged and we are planning to have a wedding in about six months so I cannot wait any longer to tell my parents that we are engaged. They do not want me to get married until I finish my BA, which could take up to 1-1.5 years, so I am finding it difficult to find the right words. Help!

One thing you may want to stress to them is that your new bride is supportive of your studies and come up with some ways that being married will help you along that path. Your parents just want you to reach your goals and have a good life.

Just tell them you love the person. Tell them with the way diseases are floating around now it's better to be in a settled down relationship than for you or your fiance being out dating around. Explain that you know it won't be super easy, but it's the struggles that often bound us together the strongest. It's seems that as long as parents realize we're prepared for a little struggle they can deal with our decisions better. They're always worried life will be too hard on us and we'll crack under the pressure.

Hey, don't YOU think, er ah KNOW, that U would have a better engagement and career if you finished your heavily debted Bachelor's Degree?????????????????????
Then get engaged all you want ? Your HONEY might think you are being selfish, and that is correct ! Get ur damn degree first. Then see if you want to court her. Do not be distracted.
Good studing and write me when you get that degree. I will buy the first bottle of Tattinger Champagne to celebrate. I WILL be here when U finish.

my boyfriend hasn't spoken to his parents about our wedding - we are planning to get married this october - we even have the wedding date ready. i just cant seem to find any reason why he cant tell his parents about our plans..
whats holding you back? are you scared that they might get mad at you?

Hey it's your life, not their's. "Mom, Dad: I'm getting married to so-and-so in 6 months." yup, that should do it. Just replace so-and-so with her name so they don't laugh at you! lol ;)
