It is a small island in the eastern Gulf of Thailand, about a 30 minute ferry ride from the city of Trat. I've heard if you want to experience the bars, discos and ladies of the night, such as in Bangkok, Phuket or Koh Samui, then Koh Chang is not the place for you. If this is true, it sounds GREAT to me!

That's right. The Thai name, Koh Chang, literally means 'Elephant Island' (Koh = island, Chang= elephant) since it can be seen like a large elephant sitting/lying in the sea. It's in Trat, my hometown, and has been famed for its good, quiet retreat for anyone seeking solitude, relaxation and pure nature there. If you want quiet and peaceful, Koh Chang is the place for you, most of the island and surrouding islands are part of a national park, so it is and will remain mostly unspoiled, but you better hurry, as development has and is taking place in the commercial areas. Koh Chang is popular with the Thai people and somewhat unknown to tourists. It's great for snorkeling, diving, hiking, waterfalls and the like. It's a little out of the way (near Cambodia), but worth the trip, have fun. And Pssst, don't tell anybody!

This place is very cool. i luv it so much. it is very natural coz it surrounded by beautiful beach and almost of the land ia nation park. As u know that this place very differ from Samui ,Phuket , and it has very less clubs , bars . That nice place u cannot miss.........enjoy
