My husband tried it for an abscessed tooth, it didn't really do much. He ended up using Cipro.

Bactrim is mostly used for urinary tract infections and pneumonia prevention in immunocompromised patients (such as those with HIV). For dental infections, I prefer prescribing Cleocin (clindamycin) or a penicillin.

Bactrim is a broad spectrum antibiotic. It will treat just about anything.
