It depends on your filing status, your age, other income you may have made besides wages, etc etc.
If you are single, age 24 or older, have 2 qualifying children and no additional income other than the $967, your EIC would be $390.

You may qualify as others have described. Here are some of the ways you would be disqualified.
If you are under 19 or under 24 and a full-time student, and living with your parents, then you cannot get the EIC for the children.
If you are married and living with your spouse you must use your combined income to figure EIC and that may disqualify you.
If you are living with the other parent and not married, then if the other parent makes more money than you do, the other parent has a higher claim on the EIC and if the other parent takes the EIC, you may not take the EIC.
That said, the EIC is not dependent on whether your money actually supported the children, just that you earned it and have qualifying children. So if you can get it, file that return ASAP and get it.

When I saw this question, I just had ask a question of my own. How is the world can you manage on $967 a year with two kids????
Do you mean you had reportable income of $987? Cause if you can make $987 work for an entire year with two kids, you should write a book and have your own TV show!!!

i would think so-you have to be low income and i am sure that qualifies. there are also all sorts of programs you can get in to help you survive during the year.
