Only about 20% of those with gallstones have problems. Gallbladder stones are not harmful unless they block the bile duct. When the stones block or become lodged in the duct it causes cholecystitis repeated attacks can cause inflammation of the Gallbladder and infection, If the bile ducts become blocked it could also cause billiary cirrhosis of the liver. The gallbladder can also become swollen and filled with pus. It could rupture and the chances of developing peritonitis are high. There are new treatments to dissolve the stones without surgery. But they often reoccur.

If you really have bile duct blockage, I do not think you will last 3-6 months without symptoms of abdominal pain or even jaundice (eyes and skin turning yellow) depending on whether the ducts are completely obstructed or not. Some people can have no symptoms at all. The pain of bile duct blockage can be very severe. You can develop cholangitis (fever, pain and jaundice) which is a very serious complication (infection due to stasis of bile when ducts are blocked). Go see a gastroenterologist.
