if you are planning on eating or skinning the animal for the pelt 22 behind the ear, if in a box trap make a what I call a hog catcher a small pipe four or five feet long with a hole drilled at the end a rope ran through it and noose at end, raise trap enough to get noose around foot or head then rmove trap and shoot.

Shoot it behind the ear with a .22 LR or hit hard where the skull and spine meet with a club or baseball bat.

I would personally wear some gloves and break their necks. But, a knife or a clubbing would work. Make sure you hit them at the base of the skull to limit pain. Be swift and steadfast.

Well the department of wildlife recommends carbon monoxide.
But you could drown it, club it like a seal.
My personal favorite is to Shoot it if you have a gun.

Shoot it in the face, between the eyes, with a .22, and make sure it's outside, messy.

a hunting knife to the neck works pretty much every time. the other option is just a hammer to the head. just make sure you hit them hard the first time, no wussing out. you have to make sure that you kill them the first time so they don't suffer.

Hopefully you used a live trap, just let it go!! If you didn't, shame on you, no PETA involved, my personal opinion.

If you plan on eating the animal, I think you're supposed to put them in a vacuum, where there is no air. I think that is humane. (I don't don't mean a vacuum cleaner).
