I dyed my hair black over a year ago, and have kept up maintaining the color...my hair grows REALLY slowly, and only about an inch of my roots are vvisible since i have not kept up with the dye. Ive tried using lighter colored dyes over top of the black, but ot no avail....is there any natural way to remove the color? or anything that isnt bleach? Please help!

You're only option is to lift the color with bleach. Nothing will cover black.

I am afraid you are going to have to either bleach it or wait painfully while it grows off. Putting a lighter color over the black will not help. The only thing that will do is turn your hair orange or an ugly copper. If you are concerned about the affects of bleach they are made much milder now than they used to be. Good luck. As for the cancer mentioned earlier that is a myth I'm sure. If it were true then why haven't we all heard of it before now?

No matter what you do, DO NOT try to color over the top of it. The way that color works even if you put a very light blond tint on top it will make it darker. Unfortunately even bleaching usually results in a dirty gray result. My sister did the same thing and her stylist told her to invest in some cute hats and let her roots grow out and then cut off the black. I hope you won't have to do the same thing!

Hi girly! Well Vinegar removes scaly build-up and residue from hair shafts and closes the cuticles. Since residue coats the hair causing it to look dull, removing residue gives your hair more shine. By closing the cuticles, the hair slides more easily and there will be fewer tangles. Vinegar has a tonic action that promotes blood circulation in the small capillaries that irrigate the skin.
Vinegar also is used to strip out relaxers and perms a natural way. This is because the acid break down in it. Try this and then use lemons and limes mixed with a clear shampoo. Lemons and limes are used by middle eastern people to lighten their skin and hair. When you do these processes, make sure you let them stay in your hair for 30 minutes to penetrate in order for it to work. If this fails, then I would advise you to do something else... But before you do this.. email me.. because it also depends on what your hair type is. Do you have curly, course, silky or wavy hair? :) good luck! Email me and I will try to help ya! Christina

Honesly the only thing you can to is get a toner and put on it but you dont need to keep coloring so often your hair is guna dry up and fall out lol. also you can use a clarifying shampoo or baby shampoo ever so often which strips you hair of its oils and hair products that normal shampoo may leave behind. also ive saw Hair color removal kits and Walgreens before. Not sure how well they work but hey if you want it that bad i guess id try it. just keep a good conditioner on your hair till you get it the way u want it..

there is no way to do it but bleach it. but there is a way for your hair to feel better. after you bleach your hair use a protien filler that will rebuild some of the protien bonds in your hair so you can tone the bleach after. there is also a product called apogee its expensive but it works. they have a leave in and a intense treatment. just make ure when you condition put on a cap and sit under a dryer to get the heat going and your cuticles opend up on your hair so that conditionr can get in there and when you rinse use the coldest water you can stand so you close the cuticles and trap the conditioner inside the hair shaft.

I would just go to Wal-mart or a drugstore and buy haircolor remover. It may contain peroxide, but it will look better if you get that off. After you use the remover, condition really well and wait a few days, then try the other colors again. Good luck!

Black hair dye is impossible to remove without bleach.

i'm sorry but there's nothing you can do....even if you bleach it it would turn out a gross coppery color and your hair would be so dry and damaged. You COULD go to a salon and they could try to lift the color out with a remover....but even then you wold have to color it dark brown. so either keep it black or cut it as much as you can handle and let it grow out...

i imagine you would possibly want to both dye it or basically enable it improve out. I actually have heard different such issues as utilising lemon juice can lighten your hair, yet no theory even if it really is genuine. searching on the dye used it would want to fade somewhat, yet probable not through very a lot. utilising anti-dandruff shampoo would haven't any result.
