Part of the reason it is hard is to prepare you for dealing with stress, both mentally, and physically. Of course, the balance between these two varies among the services, and among advanced training.

If you don't think you can cope with it now then you probably wont cope with it if you joined now. You're opinion might change as you get older but for now I'd stick with your current ambitions.
There is no difference 'outwardsly' between the way guys and girls are treated in their inital training. However, girls tend to have more to prove. There is still the impression that all the girls will either cry or flirt to get what they want. Many go in the complete opposite direction and take the hardest options to prove they're not a ditzy blonde stereotype.
Physically there are different standards between men and women in the Australia Defence Forces (eg. men under 25 do 25 push ups, women under 25 do 10.) But you still have to be able to perform the same job as a whole.
If you decide that one day, the military is for you - good luck and stay positive - if you think you can do it, you will.

I dont know about the Air Force, but in the Army it is pretty easy for everyone in Basic nowadays. They have lowered the standards so much because we need more troops and dont care who we take into the Army these days. As long as you can just do what your told, no matter if you like it or not, and not talk back it is pretty simple.

I am not sure of the airforce but I went Army and all I can say is you have to be ready to push your body to the limit and most importantly be mentally ready. Understand that the drills are their to train you and if they treat you a certain way its for a good reason. I can't tell you that reason but once you graduate you will understand. Good luck to you and your boyfriend.

it totally depends on which branch of the service you join. my boyfriend is also in the AF, he said he boot camp wasn't very hard. HOWEVER, he was also in basic right before 9/11. it has toughened up since then. i went to Army bootcamp in '05. i personally didn't think it was too bad. yea, it was hard. but so worth it. you have to be in the right mindset. it has to be somethin you want to do, otherwise you'll never make it.

depends, i finished Navy bootcamp in 2000 and it was OK, I guess if you're prepared mentally and physically, you'll do fine...my brother did his 4 yrs in Airforce and he was saying that was easy....I think if u;re capable of waking up every morning at 04-05, run and march around every day, study in the same thing , eat what you can , and take all the "bs" they're giving to you...you'll do just fine....just remember....it;s only 9-10 weeks, ...life is different outside that fence....good luck

A little pyhsical but if you just put your mind to it its not hard. Its mostly mental though, attention to detail being able to deal with stress and think clearly. I look back and laugh at how stressed I got about little things but, hey I made it threw anyone can.
