I don't know if I have a percentage for you, I think it all depends on the denomination and the individual. What I can tell you is that my Grandma went to Catholic church 6 days a week for nearly 80 years and couldn't tell me a thing about her beliefs or how to prove them.

As a Christian, I feel like sadly small percentage of believer have an adequate grasp of what the Bible really says. At least in America anyway. We don't really read our Bibles, we just listen to pastors who went through seminaries that represent this or that denomination and perpetuate false doctrines. It doesn't make Biblical Christianity less true, just shows that the enemy has been successful in fragmenting, confusing, and generally reducing the effectiveness of the Body in today's generation.

I think Muslims understand their religion better, given the eagerness of so many Muslims to do exactly what the Koran says- hate, fight, intimidate, deceive, and kill.

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: ...." Hosea 4:6a
"Therefore my people have gone into captivity , because they
have no knowledge;...."Isaiah 5:13
A recent survey among Christians showed that only 17% of them read their Bibles.Atheist have no concept of the Bible at all,you can tell that by some of the questions they ask. peace !
As far as this having any bearing on the legitimacy of Christianity the word of God still remains true and effective if the instructions are carried out properly. The Bible is not just an ordinary book and if followed as God intended it to be this old world would be a much better place.

Very few, that's why we need to read and watch movies.

Qur’an 8:60 “Infidels should not think that they can get away from us. Prepare against them whatever arms and weaponry you can muster so that you may terrorize them.”
Bukhari:V4B52N260 “The Prophet said, ‘If a Muslim discards his religion, kill him.’”
Qur’an 5:51 “Believers, take not Jews and Christians for your friends.”
Sahih Bukhari V6B61N577:
I heard the Prophet saying, "In the last days (of the world) there will appear young people with foolish thoughts and ideas. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for there will be a reward for their killers on the Day of Resurrection."
Bukhari [4:52:177]: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him!"

Bukhari, V1B4N234: "A group of people from the Oreyneh and Oqayelh tribes came to the prophet to embrace Islam, the prophet advised them to drink the urine of the camels. Later on when they killed the prophet's shepherd, the prophet seized them, gouged out their eyes, cut their hands and legs, and left them thirsty in the desert to die."
