Ignorance & intolerance abounds! Why do you want to perpetuate bad feeling between normally good people?
Yes, it is real but NO it is not evil!
Please do a little research. If you want to pick the bible apart to point fingers you have a very long task ahead of you. I doubt that many (if any) of you would pass with flying colors! What you will get here is the typical Christian dribble, typical, I am afraid, of those who chose to condemn rather than understand (BTW Christians are not the only ones guilty of this, and I don't normally point fingers). I would like to see you get some open minded answers not just one that will validate a misconception perpetuated by the intolerant people. But being the nature of the question I am fully aware that this will probably not happen, except for the few of us who have thicker skin & are tired of being scapegoats for ignorance & intolerance.
Yes, I am a Witch! We don't recognize the existance of demons or the devil, so how could we worship something that isn't? Evil exists, that is a given, but it is of MAN not of nature. Doing anything even remotely evil goes against our principles. We do our best for humanity and the environment. If we were being influenced or led by the devil, why would he teach us how to use healing herbs and why would he want us to advocate saving the earth? Why would he want us to use our very being to help others? Doesn't that sound more like of "God" than of "Satan"? Can we be so mislead that we spend our entire lives doing good things for people & nature and helping in any way that we can that we are actually doing the work of the "devil"?!? Get real.
It has been pointed out that unicorns are also mentioned in the bible so they must exist, but strange thing is that CATS are not to be found in the bible, therefore they must not exist?
I also suggest you stop using aspirin (willow bark), valium (valerian), digitalis (foxglove) plus inummerable other "drugs" because they are based on herbal knowledge (which is one of our specialties). And I don't think you will find them in the bible either! And Please! Don't get a mid-wife to bring you child into the world, because that is another practice attributed to witches! Oh! Don't forget aromatherapy! Don't forget that the field of medicine was also originated by witches if you want to get down to basics. The cadeuces (the medical symbol) is ancient Celtic in origin, it is 2 serpents entwined on a staff signifying knowledge & wisdom. I am sure that is not in the bible either!!! Especially since the actual symbol predates Christ.
Witchcraft is not evil and has absoloutly nothing to do with Satan, and if people would open their minds and hearts and books (other than the bible) they would see this.
Sorry for the ranting, but sometimes the Religious Reich gets to me.

The bible does mention Witchcraft, and claims that it's evil. But, us Wiccans, who practice Witchcraft in the religion of Wicca, aren't evil nor are Witches who just practice Witchcraft without a religious structure.

Witchcraft is not a religion, it simply means sorcery. Wicca is a religion created circa 1950, and they insist on calling themselves "witches" and their religion "witchcraft". I think the asker is referring to sorcery in general since he was referring to witchcraft (i.e. sorcery) of Biblical times, predating Wicca thousands of years.
There might be one in a 100,000 people that can do something...but it's usually something like cure a wart off a cow.
No one on Yahoo Answers is part of that 100,000(most are in 3rd world countries). Most "real" sorcerers are just one trick ponies. My Grandpa knew some kind of spell that could protect chickens from chicken hawks, and that's it. The hawks would actually eat corn along side of the chicken. How did he do it? No one alive today knows. What did he get for his services? A free chicken. Big deal. No one can get rich or famous with sorcery. If you read old occult books (before Crowley or Wicca) like Albertus Magus or Pow Wows, they usually have spells only a 17th century farmer would find useful. Sorry, but I don't need a spell to cure warts on a calf!
Then there's the "ceremonial Magickians". Look at the lives of famous occultists and see if they could do it.

No, they couldn't. What most people call "witchcraft" or "magick" is really more like a religion. They can't really cast a spell and achieve a result. This is why people say it's B.S.

Real depends on your definition of Witchcraft. Real, as in reality-based Witchcraft, is not the hocus-pocus of Harry Potter or Charmed. It is a spiritual art rooted in nature and psychology... it cannot break laws of physics.
Witchcraft is not evil in my religion. Magic is merely a natural resource, like fire. It can heat your home or burn it down; it doesn't make the fire good or evil, it just is what it is. And just because it can burn doesn't make people who work with it evil, either.

Oh,it is real! It is also against what the Bible teaches. It is satanic! I know this as I use to practice wicca. It will destroy your life. I am so thankful and grateful to my in-laws who showed me the path to salvation. We burned every witchcraft book I had and everything that was with it. I am now a born again Christian and love walking with the Lord.

real witchcraft exists, its just....t has no magic, they use alot of plants and stuff from the nature, have you ever seen how they make a zombie? mainly with the venom of a pofferfish, and yes their heart stops for some time and they appear dead, only to "revive" later, sometimes they dont revive...but oh well
lots of other plant mixtures as well,, they can do you lots of bad things, most arent really reasearched yet
but just reciting a bunch of words? I dont think so

It's just the fact that we reject whatever isn't scientifically proven. Witchcraft, however, is nothing to mess with. I believe if you open doors...to spirits, demons, whatever...you have no idea what you're looking into. It is mentioned in the Bible, and warned against. Best not to look into it, except from a distance.

Probably the same people who call BS, are the onles who believe in the strange non-believable stories in the bible. Either way, people should have more tolerance and a "whatever floats your boat" attitude. Especially on this site.

It's because most modern day "witchcraft" is bullshit. The power and belief of all the old things that were the catalysts for magic have been sapped. So, without a lot of power, innate gifts, or a shitload of willpower, most "spells" are going to be a waste of resources. Unless you treat spells like prayers I suppose, in which case it probably has a healing and faith-like quality of other types of prayers.
