The only verse that comes to mind is... In John 10:4 Jesus says the sheep will follow Him because they know His voice. In verse 5, He says they will never follow a stranger because they do not recognize the stranger's voice.
I think we will recognize when it is the voice of God and not our own thoughts. In the few years I've been a Christian, I've felt God's presence on several occasions and have felt a "prompting" to pray about something in particular, but I only know for certain that I've heard God speak to me once.
I was praying over a difficult decision involving a job change. I was torn and agonizing over this decision because the new job would pay a LOT less and it didn't offer health insurance. I told God the pay cut terrified me, but if He wanted me to accept this job, I would put my trust in Him to provide for me. In the jumble of my thoughts, I heard God say, "You are willing to do this for me, but you are not willing to stop ____?" The blank is a habit I had been holding on to and was relunctant to let go of. God's voice didn't tell me which job to choose; instead, it convicted me of a sin in my life. Sometimes God doesn't answer us in the way we expect!
I recognized this as God's voice. It wasn't my own because it came from outside the realm of my own thoughts, if this makes sense. It's the best way I know to explain it. One thing you can be certain of though, is that God's voice will never contradict His Word. If you are unsure if what you're feeling is from God, look for confirmation in scripture. God's word is what speaks to us today if we will listen. Also, sometimes God will use other people to confirm something. Again though, whatever someone else says should not contradict scripture.
Hope this helped! I like the journal idea, by the way. It's amazing to look back over it and see where God has answered prayers.

it really is a somewhat more effective useful criterion than in visual allure. in spite of the undeniable fact that it relies upon on the concern being written about. information and politics haven't any referring to personality of the author, yet philosophy and tale writing do. this relies upon on the body that the author gadgets, as a fashion to comprehend a perfect result. maximum writings are very constrained contained in the way that they teach the real personality of the author yet some (operating example, in those solutions) are the option and tell the reader plenty. The questions tell even more effective!it really is why it truly is such an exciting pastime!

I've always related actual words as my own voice, and waves of emotions (that is the best way I can put it) as God guiding me.

Anything that is not of faith is sin , Romans 14:23. I find it difficult with so much to do in the world today that Christians get hung up here.If your not sure of something just don't do it.In the mean time go to the highways and by-ways.There is much work to be done before His return.

Oh, why bother with pesky details like that? Just have everything published in a book and make a lot of money, like that guy who wrote "Conversations with God."
