Is cingular the only phone service for the new iphone? or is verizon, at&t, tmobile, etc. capable with the new iphone.

Well, Cingular will be the only carrier to sell the Apple iPhone but you will very likely be able to buy an unlocked version for a premium (100 -200 more) and use it with ANY GSM carrier.

At the moment, Cingular is the only US carrier that will market the iPhone. I wouldn't count on Cingular delivering you a phone unlocked out of the box so you can use it on T-Mobile w/o some stiff cancellation charge.

And I wouldn't hold my breath until after 2009, when the exclusivity deal expires. In addition, I wouldn't be looking for CDMA iPhone right away. Besides, I don't think Apple would like Verizon Wireless replacing the Apple look and feel for VZW's generic menus.
