My fiance has a suspended license right now and I'd like to drive his car for now since mine has problems. If a cop randomly runs the plate, am I likely to get pulled over because the plate is registered to a suspended driver?

I have a clear license and am not worried about getting in trouble, just wondering if I'd get pulled over because then I might not bother driving his car.

While this is a possibility, if you have a valid drivers license, the car is properly registered, and other requirements such as insurance are met, you should have no problem.

No a random license plate check will not return the vehicle owners Driver's License. However if you live in a small community and the police know the vehicle's owner has a Suspended DL then you may be pulled over However, once your license is checked all is well and you will be permitted to leave.

It's your fiance's license that is suspended not the cars license plate. As long as the registration is current and the car is not stolen then you should be fine.

No, his license status does not come up automatically when the plate is ran, and either way, his drivers license does not affect your status as a driver. The only problem would be if his vehicle has a hold placed on it and he hasn't taken care of that!

One way to avoid getting pulled over is to obey all the traffic laws. Another great way to avoid being pulled over is to not drive around with the sound blasting from your stereo, and having illegally tinted windows.
If your boyfriend was a known troublemaker, his car may well be known to the officers that patrol your area.
Before taking the wheel, check if his insurance, registration, etc. are all legit. Because if they aren't, you are on the hook when you drive his car.
Another thing that helps is to use the little lever on the steering column, some people call them turn siganls, I used to call them probable cause when people didn't use them (especially people driving cars registered to people who have constant run-ins with the police).
Also, not a bad idea to check that all your lights, tag light, and turn signals actually work.

Laughter is a idiot cops check plates all the time randomly all the time I see it thats their job thats how they find stolen cars cars that have been involved in crimes.
As long as everything is current you should be fine just don't speed.

Not likely... That would not act as probable cause. Unless of course your boyfriend is driving, and I personally know your boyfriend, and know his license is suspended. Let me guess, you don't have a license and are afraid of being pulled over?

Chances are pretty slim. They usually looking for a legally registered vehicle...and if they do...who cares? As long as you are licensed and the car is insured...no harm done, right?

He may pull you over, but once he/she runs your license, they'll see your okay, and send you on your way.

It may be an inconvenience, but I'd rather drive a car liable to get pulled over than a car liable to break down.

No, they dont run plates unless you do something wrong and by then you are already pulled over.
