Take Interstate 70 west (south of downtown) then exit at the Airport Expressway and follow it until it ends at the airport.
If you miss that exit, continue on 70 and exit at I-465 going north then exit at the Airport Expressway westbound.
If you're riding the citybus, take the #8 Washington Street (west bound) from one of the stops on Ohio Street and it'll take you out there ($1.50 fare-link below).

Public transportation in Indy is abyssmal. If you don't have a rental car, or have a hotel shuttle available to you ... then a taxi is really the only viable option.
P.S. jatelf72 ... how do you follow a sing? Zip a de doo dah, zip a dee eh, my oh my what a wonderful day ... plenty of sunshine headin my way, zip a de doo dah, zip a dee eh.
