A man dying on a cross feeling sorry for himself, or a suicide bomber going to his death proudly proclaiming his god?

I know, I will get crushed for this. But, bear with me. Suicide bombers are insane, I know that.

I'm just talking about 'the act of faith', whatever that means. Both were suicides (jesus was put on earth for the sole purpose of hanging for our sins). Both actions are kinda silly. I'm not talking about the individuals here, just asking which shows the bigger (even if silly) act of faith ?

An interesting question, I hope you have your fireproof underwear handy...
Jesus died because his faith required him to die to appease his father's wrath. His dying words reflected his motovation.
Suicide bombers die because their faith requires them to sacrifice themselves to defend their religion and their country. Their dying words reflect their motovation.
To say which is the greater act of faith is not a relevant question. Both acts require ultimate faith. It is rather like over in the math forum people ask, which is more infinite, the set of whole numbers or the set of even numbers. Surprisingly, they're both at the same level of infinity.
Getting back to your faith question, the real question is not who has a bigger show of faith, but whose faith is better placed and better expressed?

The suicide bomber is insane so he has no faith just dumb thinking taught by people that hate and have only greed for themselves.

Jesus died on the cross because he was ordained to be the LAMB OF GOD as was prophesied for thousands of years before Jesus was born. GOD stated that only the way to be cleaned from sin was by the shedding of Innocent pure blood.

JESUS NEVER felt SORRY for HIMSELF. He forgave even others as he died upon the cross for us. The cross was forever made a symbol of eternal life and salvation for all that accepted Jesus as their personal savior. He died and rose again in three days to show that we have eternal life in HIM.

Without reading and understanding the WORD a person can not understand GOD. GOD IS LOVE, but He IS also a GOD that will for-fill HIS WORD. We all have a choice to make in WHOM we will follow. If people do not chose to follow than they don't need to take the place of satin in condemning others or making fun of the SON of GOD because of their Ignorance. He said His Spirit will Not always strive with those that oppose Him. How awful to be in the hands of an Angry God on the day of Judgment.

As the Bible says, "Today is the day of salvation"!

As far as I know (and I'm not a Christian, so I could be wrong), but the question itself is missing two key points:

1. Jesus didn't commit suicide. He was sacrificed by others.
2. A suicide bomber aims to kill others.

I'm not saying I agree with either the Christians or suicide bombers though . . .

Now . . . if you want to argue about who is right--the Christian or the Muslim--I'd gladly say neither because death in the name of faith is pointless to me.

Do you really need this spelled out for you? First of all, Jesus didn't blow anyone up when he died on the cross...He even asked God to forgive those that persecuted him. Second, what ever gave you the idea that He felt sorry for Himself? I don't recall any mention in the bible that he whined and felt sorry for himself. He certainly wished there were some other way for you to be able to go to heaven, but since there was none, He accepted the job because he loved you. On the other hand, suicide bombers are blowing up innocent civilians and our troops because they hate us, not love us. Big difference. For Christ, it wasn't about faith...it was about love.

1. Jesus came to earth i/e born as a man, for the express reason of dieing. Dieing to forgive our sins. It was FOR us. Not for Himself. It is a gift so we can be saved. The suicide bombers were not born to commit suicide. They took no sins away. They offered their fellow man nothing that amounted to anything positive. They, evidently felt that they, THEMSELVES would be rewarded for what they did. 2. The bombers were 100% human and had the power to help no one gain eternal life. All they did was kill, hurt, destroy. Jesus hurt and destroyed no one What He did was for our benefit, all of mankind. Not for Himself or just a select group. 3. Jesus did NOT feel sorry for Himself. He knew all along what He was going to do. He felt sorry for mankind, not Himself, and that's why He did what He did. 4. What Jesus did was sort of out of sympathy. It was a kind of relief, help, remedy for our sin problems. The bombers displayed absolutely no sympathy, relieved no problems, was a remedy for nothing. 5. What Jesus did in our behalf is about as far from silly as a person can get. On judgment day, who would you rather stand in front of (be forgiven, gain eternal life) the suicide boomers or Jesus? Jesus have faith? You know it! It is our faith in Him that is the way of salvation. .

Well, technically jesus wasn't feeling sorry for him self when he was on the cross. He was feeling sad for what was going to happen, and what was to happen to those who didn't believe and criticized him.

I think that someone who dies for God shows a HUGE leap of faith!!! And technically, Jesus, and suicide bombers die for the same thing.....their god.

However, if your going to be a suicide bomber, then that's not really showing faith, to me that stupidity.....Martyrs (people who are KILLED for their faith in God) to me show ALOT more faith!

I would say a man dying on a cross, because it is a much slower and painful death than a suicide bombing.
