Turbo Tax for a given tax year is only good for that year. You need to buy the package for the tax year you're working on.
That's because each year's tax return is considered unique from year to year, and developing software that is forward compatible for future tax years is not cost-effective.
I've used TT desktop for 5 yrs, and have the diskettes and CD-ROMs to prove it.

The turbotax website says that the updates are for the 2006 product, not for an earlier one. Updates are for laws that changed after the original software was released, not changes in the law between last year and the current year. The updates will not necessarily account for such changes as the increase in amount for each exemption, increased standard deduction, changes to tables such as EIC.

You should check the company website to see if you can download updates that will bring the software up to date for current use.
