YOU BUY:
CRIB
CAR SEAT (you can get a carseat/stroller combo cheaper than seperate)
6 pairs of sleepers/pajamas
10 Onesies
10 pr. sockies
2 caps
1 winter bunting (will still probably be cold when baby is born)
4 pair of pants
Baby Bath
Baby Powder
Diapers (at least a case....get them at Sam's it is cheaper!!)
Desetin (just in case)
Gas Drops (it takes a while for baby to learn to burp...and gas pain HURTS!!)
Baby Record Book (start filling that out BEFORE the baby gets here and you get caught up in the commotion of a newborn!!)
2 crib sheets
5 receiving blankets
A pack of cloth diapers (for burp cloths, changing pads when you are on the go!!)
**THIS is the minimum of what the baby will need. Leave the rest up to any gifts that you may get***
Register for:
Stroller (if you don't get the combo)
Crib sheets (having more than 2 is a useful thing!!)
Hooded towels
Onesies
Outfits
Diaper Bag (the hospital will probably give you one for free filled with formula if you don't get one. They aren't that bad....)
Crib set (comforter....which baby won't use until they are at least a year old, diaper stacker...useful but not a neccesity, crib sheets (the more the better), bumper bad (once again...useful but not a neccesity)
A sleep wedge to keep baby sleeping on their back
A mobile (very nice to have!!!)
Wrist rattles or sock rattles
DON'T waste money on a diaper genie....they sound good but it's just better to empty your trash several times a day. They will make the nursery smell like poo....no matter what the advertisements say....
Good luck and have fun!!! Go online and get a list of the "recommended" items you should have when your baby is born!!!! Your OB/GYN office may even have some magazines for expectant mothers that will have lists like this in it!!

Babies are very simple. They need a crib of course and bedding. They need some sleepers and some clothes. They need recieving blankets and burp towels. Lots of burp towels. You should buy those youself, I recommend cloth diapers as burp towels. You need a baby bath tub, you need a monitor. You need bottles if bottle feeding and as many diapers as you can get your hands on. Don't just get newborn though. They don't stay in that size for long and unless you have a premie size 1 happens quick. You might want something that plays soft lullabys for bedtime. Maybe a humidifier if it's a dry area. A thermometer, the ones in the ear are sooo nice. Other than that you and baby just need to rest and love eachother. Sorry about your parents. Duh silly me, you need a carseat, Graco is the only company whose car seat has passed crash tests consistantly. Good luck!

The best you can give to your baby is love and support especially if you are very young. Grandparents will come around eventually.
Target, wallmart - great places that stock everything for a baby and are reasonably priced

congrats:) register for a babybjorn. you can take your baby anywhere and have both your hands free. i got one when i had my second baby and really wish i'd had one when i had my first. also, "swaddle me" baby swaddle blankets are great. they are easy to us and help your baby feel secure so he can sleep without startling himself awake.
