To limit sodium:
- Avoid foods that list salt (sodium) or MSG near the beginning of the list.
- Avoid processed cheeses or canned, pickled, or smoked meats.
- Do not add salt to your food. Use lemon, herbs, and other spices to improve the flavor of your meals.
- Ask your doctor if it is all right to use a salt substitute. Some people with kidney disease need to limit their potassium intake.

To limit protein:
- Work with a dietitian to develop an eating plan that balances your need for less protein with enough protein to stay healthy.
- Learn about the sources of protein. Most people know that meats, fish, and dairy products contain protein. They may not know that foods such as breads, cereals, and vegetables also contain protein.
- Choose high-quality protein, such as lean meat, chicken, fish, cheese, or eggs, in your diet. If you eat tuna, choose water-packed, and rinse it well before eating.

To limit fluid:
- Do not have more than 48 fl oz (1.4 L) of fluids a day. Foods that are liquid at room temperature, such as soup, Jell-O, and ice cream, count as fluids.
- Be aware that some fruits and vegetables contain a lot of water and will count in your fluid intake. Examples include grapes, oranges, apples, lettuce, and celery.

To limit phosphorus:
- Limit your intake of dairy products, such as milk, yogurt, or ice cream.
- Avoid nuts, peanut butter, seeds, lentils, peas, and beans.
- Avoid drinks such as beer, cola drinks, and cocoa.

If you are having trouble keeping your weight up, keep the following in mind:
- You may eat bread, tortillas, and cereals, but avoid bran breads or cereals. Do not eat pretzels, chips, or other salted snack foods.
- You may use margarine, oil, and mayonnaise to add calories to your diet. Vegetable oils like olive oil, canola oil, or safflower oil are the healthiest choices.
- Soft margarine that comes in a tub is better for you than stick margarine.
- Unless you have diabetes, you may use honey and sugar to increase energy and add calories.

Apart from the foods listed, it should be safe to eat whatever you want. Go check with your Doctor to be extra safe.

My Doctor Told Me the depressing news - "Your Kidneys Are FAILING!"

My worsening kidney disease symptoms included:
- Nausea and vomiting and constant stomach upset
- Passing only small amounts of urine and stopping and starting while urinating
- Swelling in my ankles and lower legs
- Puffiness around my eyes with brain fog and moodiness
- Chronic fatigue and shortness of breath when exerting myself
- Loss of appetite and not wanting to eat at all
- Increasingly higher blood pressure
- Bouts of anxiety and depression
- Muscle cramps which were worse in my legs

That a friend of mine sent me a link to a website (http://NatureHomeCure.com) that helped his Mother. She was just like me, and was suffering with failing kidneys and experienced the same worries and fears I was going through. All I could do was try it and see if it worked.

Here's where the story gets a little strange. Two months later, Instead of my kidneys sliding down the slippery slope of kidney failure and getting progressively worse, they started to get better.

My Doctor could not believe how much improved my kidney function output had increased and my GFR was UP and creatinine levels lower. My kidneys were starting to work again, and removing all the toxins in my body. I got my life back!

Now, I am using this 100% all natural protocol which restored my kidney function and did it naturally, without the use of unnatural man-made pharmaceutical drugs or dialysis. In less than two months my kidneys were on the mend. Now six months later, My kidney's are back to normal again.

Not knowing the kidney problem -- you need to check with a health care professional forearmed with knowledge of the diagnosis. If it's a problem that could lead to dialysis, it's potassium that is the enemy (more so than sodium). Potassium builds up to toxic levels faster than sodium (which can be excreted in the sweat fairly easily).
