Can you cry underwater?

yes you could cry underwater......but there would be a limited amount of oxygen. if the person crying was to try to breath or was to become so emotional that they started taking quick breaths they would drown. but if they were able to hold their breath long enough or to have a source of oxygen underwater then they could cry for as long as they needed to. but since it is alot easier to cry above water then it is underwater.....becasue of the bouyancy.....i don't see why it would be very likely that this would ever occur.....and i doubt it occurs more than a few times a year. it is just not a natural thing. people dont start crying and say.....well im going to cry underwater where no body will notice my tears. it is possible. but it would be unnecisariy to cry underwater.

edit: but you wouldn't be able to see the tears. because the would be surrounded by water.

why would being underwater affect your ability to cry?

I assume so. But your mind would probably be on other things, and would wait until you surfaced before giving you the downer that makes you cry.
