Personalize the cake with a theme such as sports if he liked any sports or just one of his favorite things. A grooms' cake should not look like a wedding cake you should get it decorate to highlight the grooms' personality or favorite thing to do.

We met in college (we were both English majors) in a literature class so I decided to surprise him with a book cake. I put our college emblem on the front and a quote from a book that got us talking the first time we met. The bottom book is a Bible since we both go to Church. I've attached the link below. She did some other cute ones too (sports, bleeding armadillos, etc.)

Number 11 of the groom's cake was ours!

kind of simple and decorate the cake and a small table with stuff that he likes or likes to do. for example...if he is really into sports decorate with his favorite sports stuff, if he is into cars you could put little cars around the cake. the groom's cake can be more "fun" so just have what he is interested in.
