yes, but I believe that to be a born-American with Canadian citizenship, you'd need one parent who was Canadian and you were born before 1978??? or something like that. I checked into it. If you're Canadian, call the American Embassy. If your American, call the Canadian Embassy. That's what I did. They sent the paperwork, but I never filled them out. I vacation up there; I don't want to live there and pay the taxes...

Yes you can, but once you hit 18 years of age, as per the U.S. you have to be either Canadian or American. Now this works to the benefit of someone choosing to be an American, you can carry your American passport and declare this, but going into Canada, you can still use either at any age. And are still entitled to Canadian benefits, and or work if you choose. So far Canada has no restrictions on this yet.

Tricky...but there are some channels...if my mother (an American) marries a Canadian...I can then ask for duel citizenship...both she and he may also have 'some' rights of duel citizenship...

there are some other ways....this is the one of which I am familiar.

Yes! Don't listen to most of the answers you have recieved. They are so wrong. kissmybum and couple others were dead on.

From my profesional knowledge, you can be a citizen of both countries. Neither the US or CDN gov't require you to relinquish your citizenship of the other country. If you are a dual citizen, you have the right of entry to both countries.

No. To be an American citizen you must renounce citizenship to any other country. You cannot be an American citizen while being a citizen of another country.
