When your life turns to s**t do you ever get angry at God and if so how do you handle it?
Do you say an angry prayer, maybe even to the point of cussing?

Come on, even the most spiritual of us get angry. Don't you ever feel like telling God off?

I believe in God and I believe he looks out for me, but I don't always understand why life goes the way it goes sometimes.

If you ever got angry at God you are not alone, even prophets in the Bible got angry sometimes. Read how Job complains so much about God (but yet refuses to curse God), or how Jonah was "angry enough to die" because God did not destroy that wicked city Nineveh, or many of the Psalms where people are expressing anger (though usually not at God, more at their enemies, but they do often complain that God seems not to hear them).

I think the reason people get angry with God is that they expect things to go a certain way, but they don't. I mean, there is the blessings and curses theology that we get in Deuteronomy, which says that if you follow God faithfully, God will bless you but if you are wicked God will punish you, but in the real world we see bad things happening to good people whilst crime pays and the wicked prosper. This dissonance leads us to be angry that God does not seem to be doing what we expect him to.

I suppose the thing to do is to talk to God about it-- the Psalms show that people of faith are allowed to express negative feelings, church should not just be for shiny happy people. God wants us to be real and honest with him. At the same time, realise that we are not God and his ways and his thoughts are above ours. His agenda and his timetable are not always the same as ours. Also, we have ample evidence that God loves and God cares, he knows if a bird falls, and he numbers the hairs on our heads. Whatever may appear to be the case, God knows and God is in control. One day all will be made clear to us.

I suggest you look up a book called "Spirituality of the Psalms" by Walter Brueggemann, it is a thin book but very insightful on what the Psalms have to say about the emotional side of faith.

God knows our hearts, and there have been times when I have been frustrated and angry with Him, yes. I've told Him I didn't understand why things were the way that they were; You know, God's got big shoulders! He can handle our little tantrums. I feel it's best to be HONEST with Him about HOW I feel. Notice I didn't say I BLAMED GOD. It's OK not to understand everything. But It's also OK to clear the air with Him, because to do any less is to be a hypocrite, and He KNOWS it, and SO DO YOU! Just tell Him what's going on! He's not going to strike you with a lightening bolt!

...Many of us ask, "Do I deserve this?", when, in fact, we deserve far worse. If we got what we deserved, we would go to Hell; but God loves us and is a gracious God.
...God is holy, righteous, pure, loving, just, gracious, and forgiving - He never makes mistakes, and we need to learn to trust in Him, rather than try to tell Him how He should rule the universe. He hears our temper tantrums, and is not surprised at all; hopefully, as we grow and mature in Christ, we come to understand that God's program for every Christian is make him/her more like Christ. He allows or directs trials and troubles our way, to show where we are lacking in character, and to help us to grow more Christ-like.
...I will close with one of my favorite verses from Deuteronomy 8:
...16 "In the wilderness He fed you manna which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do good for you in the end."
...His goal - "to do good for you in the end." What a great God we serve; trust Him and walk with Him.

I used to sometimes when I was younger and I still feel like why does these things happen to me sometimes but I know that he is perfect and he knows what he is doing. He only allows bad things so we can become strong and eventually become perfect. His goal is for us to become just like Jesus who lived a perfect human life. When he puts us through rough times it sucks while we are in it but it makes us a better and stronger person.

Yes, I will admit it. I have, at times, been angry at God. I do not curse under any circumstance and would never think of cursing at God.

When I am angry at God, I admit to Him that I am angry. (He already knows that anyway)

Once I got very much hateful towards God, but then I realized how foolish it was..... Getting angry at God is like getting angry at someone who saves me from execution.

Yes jorst, I have been angry with God and yes, I do tell him I am (like he cannot tell anyway). I say my piece and then tell him I accept his will, even if its not mine and I do not like it.
