ok its my understanding the koran didnt exist before Mohammed. Mary was attending a Jewish temple for Passover, there is a historical discrepency with the statement that verse in the Koran which says Mary called upon Allah, if she was Jewish she would've called upon Eloiheim or Eloikeim. After all jesus called upon eloiheim on the cross.

Allah is simply the name of God in Arabic, this word is not used for idols or other deities but only to denote unseen God, who is the Creator and sustainer of every thing. Even Arabic speaking Jews and Christians use the word Allah to refer to God. You can see Allah mentioned through Arabic bible, see http://www.arabicbible.com

Brother, is this seriously serious?

Allah is simply the Arabic name for the All Powerful Singular God. The story of Jesus and Maryam (Mary) is described in Qur'an and there it is said that Mary called upon Allah. As Allah is the same God in both Judaism and Christianity, it's not amazing that Mary sought help from Allah.

All Abrahamic religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, came from the same God, but revealed in different times on different prophets and messengers.

Allah is the Arabic word for God, saying that Mary called upon the name of Allah is saying that Mary called upon the name of God. There was no need for Mohammed to be around for this to happen as people had been aware of God since the time of Adam and Eve.

Mary a young jewish girl could call upon the name of Allah because she was guided by Allah through Gabriel angel as messenger of Allah the only one God.The prophet Muhammad had been told this story by Allah after he was appointed as a prophet at the age of 40.The will be coming of last prophet Muhammad pbuh was stated in an original Torach and Bible but it had been deleted by dirty hand.

All praise is due to Allah and peace and blessings be upon the beloved Prophet Muhammad. The Qur'an was revealed to Muhammad (pbuh) in Arabic, in his language, the language of his people. Allah, the same God of Abraham and all the other previous Prophets (peace be upon them all), revealed the stories of Mary (pbuh) and all the previous Prophets to Muhammad (pbuh) in his language. Allah is God, The Creator, The Lord. Regardless of what these other people say, it is the same God. Would it be fair to tell a story in Japanese to someone who ONLY speaks English? I think it's safe to say that the Creator of the heavens and the earth is not limited to only speaking Hebrew.
One other important note, the Qur'an says Mary (pbuh), a young Jewish girl, is the best woman of all time. Allah knows best.

Well the answer is simpler than you'd think...

Mary was a religious person, who called on God regularly

Allah means God in Arabic

And because the Quran was in Arabic, and it is written in Arabic that Mary called on God, well you use the word Allah

It's just language

Even Arabic translations of the new Testament have the word Allah as a translation of the word God

Hope that was a sufficient answer

and thanks for posting a serious question

The study led by a Harvard Medical School researcher, found evidence of mental problems in 26.4% of people in the United States, versus, for example, 8.2% of people in Italy, Serbia 23%, Croatia 21.8 %, Bosnia 2.9%, Germany 8.1%, Islamic world 3.2%, etc. The researchers were concerned with matters such as lack of access to treatment and under-treatment, but for those concerned about a safe and decent world, I think the salient finding is simply America's high percentage. The world is being led by a nation where more than one-quarter of the people have genuine mental problems.

Mary, was aware of Jehovah God (Tetragrametton - YHWH), who was known to be the God of the Isrealites. So it was not unusual for her to call upon the name of God at that time. In fact, it was not unusual for those who followed true worship, to use God's name in their prayers and daily worship. Psalm 83:18 in the Holy Writings make God's name known to true worshippers. Also, in the original Hebrew writings, God's name was used frequently. It wasn't until later times that Many Religious leaders began taking out God's name due to their superstititions. Also it was a way to gain control over the populace by keeping God's name out of the holy writings.

Interesting how Islam is the original religion of a religion that started 600 years before they even existed. All you have to do is take over countries and then rewrite the history books.

Becuase Allah is God in Arabic. Therefore no matter what Abrahamic religion you are if you are speaking Arabic God will be said as Allah. It was even said that Jesus would refer to God as Allah when he was praying(this could be false I read it somewhere) but ya It is trhe same god. We mucslims, christians, and jews all believe in one same God we just choose to wrship in deifferent ways.
