Where did you hear that a Crate Engine is any more powerful then a regular Engine. The fact is that the reason it's called a Crate engine is because it's delivered in a crate. You have to do the work to make it powerful. The motor in your car, started out in a Crate waiting to be installed in your car.

Yes you can. Also you can put any type of engine in any type of car. You just need the now how. They sell adaptor kits, some cars you may need to weld somewhere to put the engine brackets on, and so fourth. Then you have to look at the transmission brackets and then the proper length and type of driveshaft to fit. Whew, I am tired already.

sport tracs have the 4.0. but have the same frame member as its bigger brother the explorer with the 4.6. there are all kinds of 4.6 motor/trans companies out there with unlimited hp depending on how much you wanna spend. I like www.karkraft.com they have short blocks , long blocks, new or used motors and are very reasonable and well known.

i mechanic for a living,,and yes you can get a better engine for it,,jasper engines can build a good crate engine for it,,and really build the power up on it a lot,,but yes its possible to get a different engine for it,,that would produce a lot more horse power,,good luck hope this help,s.

Advance adapters make an explorer kit. I sure the moifications would be similar.
