How do I get it out of the bootup menu when I start Windows? It always boots to Vista,which no longer exists, and I have to scroll down to Windows to be able to startup Windows? I no longer have a partioned hard drive...but Windows still thinks I have two operating systems to boot from.

Right -click on My Computer
select properties
Click advanced
select "start up and recovery settings"
click edit
there you will see two entries that look similar to this:

[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

You have to delete the one that refers to Windows Vista

BE VERY CAREFUL YOU CANNOT REVERSE THIS
if you accidentally damage the XP on your computer will not boot up properly and you will have to re-install

I may be a good Idea to copy and paste the boot file to notepad titled TEST.txt that way you can be sure that you have the right one before you do it for real

Reformat, maybe. Vista was a really bad idea on Microsoft's part. I mean with all the steep requirements, it's insane.
