Soy.
It's yummy and it reduces cholesterol and cancer. I love soy. Best think to happen to the planet since Hemp!

Corn or maize- depending on where you are in the world. A family of 6 in the most depleted soils in Africa can be fed on less than an acre of land by corn. Also, it is refined in the western world to be used as the source of high fructose corn syrup, which is a good thing for our ever growing sweet tooth. Additionally, the kernels can be fermented as an energy source- ethanol. Scientists are looking at ways to use the stalks of the plant as the ethanol source, instead of using the seed. Corn is also used as a dominant animal feed.

I believe the most beneficial plant is the aloe. Not only does it provide oxygen like other plants but it contains healing properties, sustanance and is able to survive in harsh conditions.

bamboo - it can be used to construct homes, make containers, fences, now being incorporated into clothing, they are edible, too...oh and they help the panda population survive.
