the worst hair for a lady officer to have is a ponytail, i often both see it extremely short or in a bun so it really is a lot less probably to get yanked. male officials can no longer have lengthy hair, women folk are allowed to because it truly is regarded on as more effective organic for a lady to have lengthy hair particularly then a guy. also often male police officials can no longer have facial hair (except for mustache for some reason) till they're undercover.

I don't see why it should be a problem? I have an afro that is huge and I want to join the police force.. I do do a lot of sports, magic shows, children's shows, circus acts, athletics, sprints so it does not affect that. I know the feeling when people always look and talk about my hair XD! Sorry for the reply, I'm 9 years too late XD!

No. My Department, as well as every Police Department in the area, forbids long hair on male officers.
I have heard of no Police Department in the United States that allows it.

Generally, no, they cannot. Also, a mustache is the only facial hair that most PD's allow.
Now, the exception is undercover officers. But, that would come years later. When starting with the PD, you would be reuired to likely cut your hair.

No a male police officer cannot have long hair. Not only can it be used against you in a fight, it is a professional appearance reason.

I prefer hair that is shoulder length or longer, As well as since that men who like females are more often then not straight, they like long hair because this looks more feminine, as most men have short hair.

It depends on individual department policy. But you really need to think about is will that hair give the bad guy an advantage, such as a hand hold?

Most if not all departments require short hair and properly groomed, what if a dirtbag grabs you by the hair???? But I do know that undercover officers (vice) can have long hair and grow beards to blend in with the dirtbags.

Like the other person said, if you've been assigned to undercover detail, perhaps, but, in the meantime, while you're at the academy and doing your stint in uniform it's off-with-the-locks. Personally. I feel no loss when an undercover cop is killed doing a drug deal. Tough beans. They knew the risk. Doesn't have to be that way though.
On the other hand, you could keep your hair long, go to law school, and be a defense attorney and fight against the TYRANNY of the War on Drugs.
