i have a red bump on the white part of my eyeball. i am not sure when it appeared, but it has been there for at least 4 or 5 years. it does not cause any disturbances to my eyesight - i have perfect eyesight, but sometimes causes numbness to the eyeball. the bump is about 1.5 mm in diameter. the optometrist said it is not a huge problem if it does not cause any pain, but it seems to be growing larger - even though it is at an extremely slow rate. any suggestions about what it could be?

Sounds like a pterygium, a small growth that is harmless unless it encroaches over the coloured part of the eye. My sis-in-law had one for many years before it became a problem. Here is a link for you to find out more.

Not sure. But go to a general practitioner instead of an eye doctor, see what he has to say.. then if he says nothing's wrong and you are still worried, ask a different eye doctor

You need to see an opthamologist..

Did the optometrist do a computer scan on your eye?

Good luck!
