Try growing a hedge fence! It might take awhile but no one is going to bother to climb over it...especially if you add some thorny plants ;)

Strong fences make good neighbors, or something to that effect. The diplomacy angle is best for your first try, but if it doesn't work, put up some kind of barrier. A wooden or plastic fence is not that expensive; ditto a thorny hedge. If they deface or destroy the barrier, call the cops. Check with the city re trespassing also.
Here's an idea:
4' x 8' Vinyl Privacy Diamond Lattice: $30 a panel (at a major home improvement store) Add a few rectangular planters with climbing plants (honeysuckle, jasmine) in them, make your barrier decorative! Talk to the guys at the h.i. store, they should have some good ideas.

ugh! i had the same problem in the last house I rented, we lived on a corner and people cut across our lawn all the time. Yes it is private property if they are throwing stuff in your yard, to distract your dog, play dumb call the cops and tell them they are throwing stuff AT your dog. At any rate the cops should tell them to stay off your property. or do what I did a few times, stand where they cant see you with your hose on and spray the hell outta them when they come across your property again

ARE YOU CRAZY??? Don't say or do anything. This is something you have to learn to live with it. Kids can be worse than the Mafia. You mess with kids and the next thing you know your tires are flat. Things are missing and windows are broken. If you don't like your situation, then the right thing to do is move and find something that is more condusive to your way of life. Don't start no sh*t - there won't be no Sh*t

I know from experience that you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. I used to have neighbor kids that trashed my yard with their junk. They even took an ink pen to my garage door, and threw things up on my roof. The more I yelled, the more pleasure they took in it. Then I wised up. I bought a box of twinkies, a bag of doritos, etc. When they came over and cleaned up their mess, when they behaved well and stayed in their own yard, etc., I rewarded them with a treat. Soon we got along great. It cost me a little money but saved me a lot of aggravation. It's been about 10 years now--I eventually got married and moved across town. But those children still remember me and speak kindly to me when we happen to meet. Good Luck!

This sort of stuff used to bother me, as well, and then I realized that it was really small stuff, in the grand scheme of things.
Unless you are planning on moving, you have to live with your neighbors, so don't sweat the small stuff.
If you feel you have no other options, shotguns, land mines, barbed wire and electric fences, as well as other deterrents are readily available on the Internet.

Do what I did... put up a fence. I know you say you can't afford it but if it will give you some peace, live on mac and cheese for a couple months and just do it.

you could try a sprinkler system that you have laced with a good paint, turn it on when they walk on your yard. i'm sure their parents wont want to keep buying new clothes or dog **** is a good idea or a paintball gun.or you could pay someone elses kid to beat the tar out of them.

Land mines usually work. Firing a warning shot across the bow does as well. However, a hedge is usually good or just don't pick up after your dog... slip slidin' away.......
