Yeah I dont get it either considering alot of priests etc down the ages have enjoyed the company of boys since women are denied to them.
You have to remember the Church doesnt serve Jesus, it serves itself. Jesus was a tolerant and forgiving person.
There is also the point that if god made everything then he also made homosexuals!!??
And lastly doesnt the bible say judge not least you be judged? Treat others as you would be treated?
The derogatory word for homosexuals, which this wont let me type for some reason, came from the burning times when they would chuck homosexuals on the pyre like a bunch of *******, which was the name for a bundle of sticks.

People who claim they are Christians but then speak out against homosexuals, atheists, (fill in group here), are not true Christians. Jesus preached about loving thy neighbor as thyself and about loving one another. Some people have weird agendas and believe that if someone differs from them in religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, etc., then that person is bad and will go to Hell. Not true. I am a Christian and I try not to judge but I am also not perfect. However, we as humans were made in Jesus's image and I DO NOT believe that just because someone might not be a straight, white, Christian woman (which is what I am), then they are bad or wrong or going to Hell. Jesus loves us ALL! Don't listen to the naysayers. They are crackpots and don't have a clue. Their interpretations of the Bible are interpreted to promote their own agendas. That's not what Christianity is about.

i am christian and i dont hate homosexuals... i actually have a roomate who is lesbian. Jesus also said to love thy nieghbor and that only God can judge people. It is a few people who have taken hatred upon themselves that have made you believe this but if you follow the teachings of the Bible it does say to love everyone so in reality the people who hate homosexuals are sinning themselves by letting the hate fill thier hearts.
but also by accepting that there are homosexuals.. it doesnt mean that we have to support thier beliefs because in the end it is your personal relationship with God that is going to be judged and you have to account for what YOU DO not what OTHERS DO.
in EVERY RELIGION there are extremists and by choosing to generalize those few.. it does a disjustice to those who share the same beliefs but dont let translate in thier own spiritual relationships. To each his own as im sure you know everyone has thier own ways they see fit to abide to beliefs

Who ever said that true Christians hate homosexuals? I'm a Christian, and some of my friends are homosexual. However, I don't approve of homosexuality. I try not to hate people, but that doesn't mean I approve of homosexuality. There's a huge difference between a person who calls them self a homosexual and an act of homosexuality. Also, I try not to judge people - we are not supposed to judge others before we are perfect ourselves, pretty much (and that won't happen). I don't remember where exactly, but Jesus said that in one of the Gospels.

A lot of the anti-homosexual ranting is based on the OT, which supposedly isn't in force anymore.
As for the "hate the sin and love the sinner" BS, it's just a thin cover for being homophobic while having a socially acceptable excuse for it. I have yet to see anyone "hate the sin" without hating the "sinners" as well.

Remember this letter in reply to Laura Schlessinger:
Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:
When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Leviticus 18:22
Leviticus 20:13
Deuteronomy 23:17-18
In Matthew 5:18, Jesus (a mythical Christian figure loosely based on the older, pagan myths of Mithra and Attis), says that "not a letter, not a stroke of a letter of the old law [the Old Testament] will pass from the law" until after the Second Coming. This is ramified in Luke.
There is no escaping it. The God of the Bible really does hate homosexuals. Christianity is a violent, homophobic religion that encourages you to _MUR DER_ your neighbor for the choices that he or she makes in the privacy of the bedroom. Either you murder your homosexual friends, or you believe that the Bible is not the word of God and that Jesus was a liar.
I choose the latter. Anyone who subscribes to the Bible, in part or in whole, is misguided, and I have nothing but pity for them.

It's fear and ignorance. They use the Bible as a weapon. I've said it before and I'll continue to say it. Anything that is interpreted in the Bible as a means of oppressing, discriminating or harming is not God's will to be done. Those who do this aren't saving Christianity but destroying it.

I'm a Christian and I don't hate them. Believe me, I have no desire nor do I claim to be able to usurp God's authority. "Judge not, least ye be judged" comes to mind. I would think adulterers and adulteresses would anger him more than homosexuals. I remember the commandment that says, "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods" and the commandment that says "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife." But for the life of me, unless there was a 13th one, I don't remember there being a commandment that said "Thou shalt not be homosexual." Maybe my Bible is outdated??????
