Wrangler....meant to be taken off road if necessary.
Liberty is a uni-body...Basically a 4X4 car...Not meant for off road.
My money would be on the Wrangler (my next veh to purchase..owned 3)

Like other people have said, it really depends on your use. Liberty for mainly on road, Wrangler for any sort of more extreme off road
With buying a Jeep, there are a couple of things you need to remember:
1. Lack of Fuel Economy- Averages under 20mpg, depending on how you drive for either
2. Lack of Power
You will be disappointed if you are not aware of these facts. However, they are fun vehicles.
I have an 03 Liberty and I love it. I use it to commute. I know that no matter what the weather is, I can get where I need to go. It has that awesome Jeep 4WD system in it. They are even capable off road...check out jeepkj.com or lostkjs.com and see what people do with them. They can seat 4 people, so work well if you are going out with friends or have a family or need to carry stuff.
I have never owned or driven a Wrangler, but they look like they are a blast! They are extremely capable off road. There are tons of modifications if you are into the off road experience.
Good luck with your decision! Either way, it is a Jeep and they are the best!

It all depends on what you plan on using it for. The Liberty is your best choice if you are not planning on doing any serious off roading. It has plenty of interior space, a smooth ride, all the creature comforts that a person could want, and more convenient if you have a family of tend to carry more than two people often. A Wrangler is far superior off road though. Keep in mind with a Wrangler that it is difficult to transport larger items, and a little bit more hassle to get anyone in the back in or out of. Keep in mind too if you look at a soft top that you will have louder road noise. If you want the traditional Jeep look, go for the Wrangler, If you need something more practical - go for the Liberty. Sorry I can't make a choice for you but it all depends on what you will use it for and why.

Well it depends on what you plan on doing with the vehicle. If you are like most people and never leave pavement, the Jeep Liberty is for you. However if you do a lot of offroad adventuring then get the Wrangler. Both vehicles are reliable, and both are offroad capable, but the Jeep Wrangler is truly the offroad beast. However the Jeep Wranglers have the 4.0L inline 6 which is a very reliable engine and great gas mileage. The Liberty uses the 3.7L V6 and gas mileage isn't very good on that engine. So stick with something with the 4.0L inline 6.

To tell you the truth ive owned both 03 liberty and current 05 wrangler x, the wrangler has alittle bit of a stiff ride but not terrible, space is a little better in the liberty, i take both off road and both suvs are stock. I like the wrangler better in the summer time more because you drop the top and let the sun hit you. also the wrangler is more fun off road so if youre more of a cruiser go for the liberty but if your looking for fun driving evreyday go for the wrangler

wrangler over liberty well at least the tjs the new 07s i dont know about but ya the engine in the TJ's is way better then the v6 in the liberties. the wrangler has way better off road capabilities and way more mods to make that even more true. its got solid axles front and rear so it makes for again a way better off road vehicle. so pretty much if your going to go with a off road vehicle then you would want to go with the wrangler but if your only looking for a car to get you from a to b and just want it to be a jeep then id go with the liberty because it way more street friendly then the wrangler.

It seems like I've heard better things about the Liberty. If I were to by a Jeep, I would buy a Liberty. Except I wouldn't buy a Jeep, because I only buy Toyota's, Honda's, Mazda's or Nissans. Also, have you thought about how much gas you'd be using? Unless you need an SUV to transport lots of people or things everyday or you live in a snowy, hilly climate where an SUV is absolutely necessary, you should think of a more economical car that uses less gas and is better on the environment.

ask yourself why do you want the jeep.. i have a 2004 wrangler and i mainly use it for offroad purposes.. it's also nice to take the top and doors off and go for drives on a nice day.. if you are wanting to take it offroad, the wranlger is the way to go.. if you're going to be hauling more than 1 other person, then the liberty will be better.. i think first you need to ask yourself what do you want the jeep for.. then decide which is best for you.. offroading is an expensive sport as well.. i have a lot of money and time into my jeep, and it's going to keep taking a lot more money and time to get it set up the way i want...

My choice would be the Wrangler, less body metal and more compact, The Wrangler can be easily modified to perform much better off road. The Liberty is prone to more body damage and the number of modifications that can be done are limited.
