To those of you who believe in christians being modest:

It may be a little strange since it's winter, lol, but I am really excited about summer and the beach already! So I went to picking out the perfect bathing suit online with, of course, keeping the modesty in mind. I found a cute rashguard or bathing suit material, type of a t-shirt. It's just like a normal t-shirt, no belly showing or lowcut top. The bottoms are usual bottoms that would go with some sort of two piece, but I replaced the usual bikini top that would go with it for the rashguard. The thing that I am concerned about are the bottoms. I used to babysit for a christian family who had a pool, and once when I went over, the mother was in a usual one piece. It was just plain, no purposefully revealing areas, and...well, you know just a one piece! I thought about the bottoms I was looking to buy....and then her one piece, and in the rear, of course, it would have been the same. What do you guys think???

And I dont want any disgusting answers, I do not care for them, and I will certainly not read them or choose them as a best answer. I realise there are worse things to worry about, but in following christ I have chosen to serve Him in any way possible, whole heartedly, and I did not care to hear wether anybody agreed with that or not. I asked a question, and I asked for truthful, yet specific and serious answers. Dont bother if you are only going to critisize me please, that is all.
Thank you.

Is this style that you are considering (what is called) a "NUDIE-BACK"-style?-the type that cover nothing at the back but maybe a string or two (Sort of a BIKINI-style)?
There are many styles (modifications) that are popular nowadays that are either / neither "overly-revealing" nor "overly covering."
Seek out these "wear-to-any-occasion" styles that I have seen some ladies wear even to dinner parties. Many "reputable" clothing (retailers and seamstresses) can more precisely guide you in your search.
As I am a Judeo-Christian (your question seems targeted toward this scope) I find these options to be most in taste in both the social rhelms and business world.

Modesty is an issue for christian ladies. I'm torn sometimes. I have a real issue with exposing theigh and any kind of cleavage. I try to use the little shorts type bathing suits and a tankini top but depending on how many people I expect at the pool I may throw a T-shirt overtop too. Like I said, I do struggle with it. Not that I have a bod that the men drool over. I have a little extra pounds and considering there is far younger flesh that is much more perky and much more flesh showing, I usually don't have to worry about the roving eye, but even if I was a "10" I would struggle with this issue. Interesting question. First time I've seen it addressed in here personally.

If a girl is wearing only her underwear then that is certainly immodest and wrong. Somehow if it is colored right or of the right material it is fine regardless of the fact it covers nothing more and sometimes less than underwear. One piece swim suits cover a bit more, but still are immodest. It really doesn't bother me though somehow because it is like the women are dressed somehow when they are really not and I just want to enjoy the beach and ocean and sun. My wife is from India. They would not dare to wear any of these swimsuits either one or two piece, because it is considered completely immodest. Their swimsuit is like a dress, I guess, which is what my sister actually wears out of sense of modesty though she has never been to India.

Hope that helps.

nNo matter the age, we are to do ALL things in moderation and that extends to all wearing apparel meaning nothing shows that is inticing to the opposite sex and even men should heed this,i.e. thongs. Now in this day and age anything goes and then the women wonder why that is much of what men think about. Or commit rape, etc. We have become such an immoral nation it boggles the mind. So cover up girls-it is better to leave them guessing than have it all hang out! There actually are men who respect you for it and event hough they pursue "loose" females-they prefer to marry the non-flamboyant.

The most immodest one piece I ever heard of was the monokini, a topless bikini. But if you're worried about the bottoms, why not get one with that little skirtlike frill that covers the bottoms front and back?

I see no problem showing your abs.

I think a two peice bathing suit is fine. When I was a teen my friends parents were very strict Christians so she did alot of things behind their backs. Now that I have a teen I have to let her wear things that I don't like(not slutty or anything) but if I don't I know she'll rebel

The devil is a pig and man is weak. I think is all about dignity and respect for your body. There is nothing wrong by putting a bathing suits but if you ask maybe is because you conscience is telling you that you want to be seen. Our fight is not against flesh but against the evils' spirits.

Don't get too carried away with the modesty thing. If you're reasonably hot it would be an insult to God to hide it. Isn't there something in the New Testament about not hiding your light under a bushel? You don't have to wear a thong if you're not comfortable with it but there's absolutely nothing wrong with a nice bikini.

I think you're a very troubled child. You want to be modest, yet push that modesty to the very edge of immodesty (without going over, of course). If your priority is modesty, don't wear a bathing suit.

Being modest has nothing to do with you; it is to prevent men from lusting after you. ANY 'bathing suit', or tight fitting clothes for that matter, will cause them to do so (unless you're fat, of course).

I think it's your choice... God dosn't really care what you wear... just keep in mind if people know that your a Christain then you should dress modist so that maybe they can starts to look towards Christainanity because they see that Christains arnt like the rest of the world.
