Alright this is hard to explain but I'll try. When I floor my gas in my dodge ram and it seems to hit about 3rd or 4th gear I hear a very loud almost blowing type noise but when it finally changes gear it stops. It happens only when or after Ive floored the gas. The noise sounds almost like a leaf blower inside my engine or my intakes come off the throttle body, but it has not. Any suggestions on what this could be? transmission and if so whats making this noise?

Sounds like a plugged cat converter to me... Does it seem like when you floor it that it doesn't accelerate well? Or like it did when it was new? It can also be an air-horn gasket thats torn or not positioned correctly if the noise is in the engine bay.

You didn't specify all the details but my first thought is that your vehicle has a clutch fan that is malfunctioning (staying engaged at all temperatures) and when you "floor it" the and the engine revs up, the clutch could be engaging instead of slipping like normal and turning the fan in direct proportion to the engine RPM. This will make a loud blowing sound like you describe. In normal operation the fan clutch slips to allow the engine to run as efficiently as possible while staying in the normal temperature range. The fan clutch normally engages only when the engine temperature goes above 200 degrees F on a Dodge (210 F on a Chevy or Ford) to draw in more airflow and cool the radiator down to the normal temperature.

Good Luck.

It sounds like you could have one of two things wrong. One can be a simple gasket between your throttle body and air intake housing broken. But if it sounds more like a clatter it's your going to look at the lower intake gasket(valley pan gasket). That problem is only with 5.9 and 5.2 engines. There is also a PCM update for that problem, only the dealer can do.For more info you need to know engine size.

Check the air cleaner and make sure the clamp is clamped properly on the intake. That will make a loud sucking sound when you floor it.
