My opinion: Neither was a joke. Both were just plain insulting.

I mean, they are now saying Rosie's rantings on Trump were a joke. Wow!
Can't wait to see the view tomorrow, and I never watch it.

Jive: I give you credit for honesty, most are not. I think you're somewhat right, but I also think Kerry had a bad Military taste in his mouth and was just plain insulting, not a joke.

Do you want answers or do you want the truth? I think we have a tendancy to like "feel-good" explanations and answers but like Samuel Jackson said, "that **** ain't the truth".

The truth is that some people are in the military because they did badly in school. That's the truth and I actually know some people who joined the military for that reason. I am NOT saying that all people do that but some do. My feeling is that most do not join for that reason but I know some kids who did that after high school because they didn't see any other options. They messed up in school and decided to take that route cause college plans didn't go anywhere.

So Kerry statement applies to some people but I can't say how many. That's the truth.

What we must all learn about life is that reality is not always pleasant but it is what it is. Our challenge in life is to make reality better and not deny what it is - cause for some victims (such as exploited or abused people), reality really sucks.

I've never heard anyone comparing the two, but I suppose some people might say that. Rosie was clearly trying to be funny, but was also serious about what she said and was trying to insult Trump.

And I hope this doesn't cost me Best Answer, but the only person Kerry was insulting was Bush. He wasn't saying that soldiers ended-up in Iraq because they got a poor education. He was saying that we got involved in Iraq because Bush was so stupid. But he screwed-up the joke by skipping a word. The joke as written was: “I can’t overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don’t study, if you aren’t smart, if you’re intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq.”

He had been saying many jokes about Bush, but when he delivered this line, he forgot to say "us", and it made it sound like he was saying "you get stuck in Iraq", rather than "you get us stuck in Iraq". And the difference is obvious and was in the written material he was using. Unfortunately, he just didn't say it properly. It was supposed to be a joke insulting Bush, but came out sounding wrong. He apologized repeatedly for screwing up the joke and the only people who don't accept it are the people who just want a reason to attack the guy.

If you haven't heard this before, you should probably reexamine your news sources, as they're not telling you everything. The truth is very plain, and it's obvious that the only person Kerry was insulting was Bush.

which one! LOL! No the mouth speaks as a result of what is in the heart. Maybe I'm hypervigillant to comments about the military, being a military wife myself, but I have no patience for people who insult our military at all. Especially if they are celebrities using their celebrity status to promote politics. I used to really like Rosie until she got so rabidly political. She really used to be hysterical and seemed to have such a sweet spirit. I don't agree with her lifestyle, but I can understand a woman wanting to adopt children. It is one of the most loving things you can do. She definately has a dual personality. On one side loving and nurturing to her children and on the other despising the very people who fight for the freedoms she enjoys in this country.
