Pat Robertson: "God told me our country will be heavily attacked this year, I hope people will pray to prevent it from happening."

I honestly can't see the logic in that. God already know, obviously. He needs people to tell him something is bad, to prevent it from happening? God works on majority votes? How does this work?Anybody who can enlighten me how this works?

If you were a (not-retarded) God - and you wanted to send a message - would you pick Pat "Hurricane" Robertson as your messenger?

God works specifically according to His Word and will never deviate from it. Sometimes humans, even proclaiming Christians like Pat Robertson, are mislead by Satan to make proclamations which God never spoke. I guess if this event predicted by Pat Robertson does not take place this year he will be exposed as a false prophet. That being said, I also believe that if God doesn't judge North America then He'll owe Sodom and Gomorrah an apology. Rest assured that the judgement of God will indeed come to North America but in God's time, not Pat Robertson's time. Always pray for your nation and its leaders, according to God's will as recorded in the Bible.

Sure it helps to pray. God says that: The prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Pat Robertsons prediction comes partly by faith and partly by common sense. The more we go against God in theis country, the more He will try and get our attention and get us to repent. Look how this country all came together for a few months after 9-11. The President prayed on national TV and no-one dared to oppose him. Democrats took a beating in the polls and the Republicans kept controll of everything. Now Im afraid we have back slidden once again and God will have to get our attention yet again. Many a righteous man has prayed to God and God has relented His judgment on a people or nation because of one mans prayer. Always pray continuously.

I really wish Pat Robertson would just hush. I mean, every single time he opens his mouth on public television...he embarrasses Christianity. Anyway, to answer your question, yes...it's pointless. God has decreed the end from the beginning. And what He decreed will take place.

Good question,
although I am 100% certain that Pat has not ever not will ever receive a prophecy from God, the proof here is that since all earthly kingdoms stand in opposition to the Kingdom of God, praying for any one them is to take a stand against God.
At Daniel 2:44, it states that all the earthly governments will be destroyed (the stone not cut out by human hands will crush the kingdoms and they will blow away as chaff) by God's Kingdom.

Although there are instances in the scriptures where God's servants prayed and God changed his mind regading certain events and people.

No, if God prophecied something, it WILL happen no matter what. Be 100% sure, although I would question whether or not God actually talks to Pat Robertson. If God does predict a disastor, however, you can pray that it will not be as bad as it could be. For example, the Bible says that the number of lost souls will be "as many as the sand of the seas" and that the majority of people will be lost, so it is futile to pray that everybody will go to heaven, but we can still pray and hope that as many people as possible will still be saved.

I don't think so. If it's true that "God's will be done", then God is going to do whatever he wants, whether anybody else likes it or not. So the real question is, why bother to pray at all?
